SAP services extended for maintaining law & order: Samrat

Patna, June 3 (UNI) Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary said that in view of the internal security and law and order of the state, the service period of 1,717 soldiers working in Special Auxiliary Police (SAP) has been extended for the financial year 2025-26. Choudhary told media here on Tuesday that this extension to the SAP jawans would effectively address the challenges related to insurgency, violence and law and order in Bihar . A total of Rs 43.66 crore has been sanctioned for the extension of the service period of the SAP. He said SAP was constituted by the NDA government for the first time in 2006 for speedy improvement in the law and order scenario of Bihar and retired Army personnel were appointed on contract in SAP. The deputy CM said that constitution of SAP helped police in maintaining law and order. UNI RS PRS

Indoor shooting range to be constructed in Nalanda with expenses of Rs 24 cr: Dy CM

Patna, June 1 (UNI) Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary on Sunday said that an indoor shooting range would be constructed with expenses of Rs 24 crore in Nalanda district of Bihar. Chaudhary said here that vacant land in Kalyan Bigaha village of Nalanda District would be utilised for the construction of an indoor shooting range, with expenses of Rs 24 crore. Administrative approval for the construction of an indoor stadium had already been given, he informed. "An indoor shooting range of 10 m is already there in Kalyan Bigha, the native village of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar," the Deputy Chief Minister said, adding that the 10-m indoor shooting range in Kalyan Bigaha was considered the second best in the country. With the construction of 25-metre and 50-metre indoor shooting ranges in Kalyan Bigaha village, it would become a complete unit, and no player would be required to go outside Bihar for practice, he added. "Ten metres indoor shooting range was inaugurated by Chief Minister Kumar on May 14, 2011," Chaudhary said, adding that on January 1, 2017, a 35-lane shooting range was also inaugurated by the Chief Minister. "The shooting range in Kalyan Bigaha is equipped with the latest technology, and an automatic scoreboard is also there for the convenience of players and spectators," the chief minister said, adding that it was the best after the shooting range of Bhopal. Bihar govt okays Rs 219 cr for salaries to Sanskrit school teachers

Patna, May 27 (UNI) The Bihar government has sanctioned Rs 219 crore for payment due to non-government Sanskrit school teachers and non-teaching staff, said Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary on Tuesday. Chaudhary said the state government sanctioned Rs 219 crore for payment of salaries to teachers and non-teaching staff of non-government schools. Out of sanctioned Rs 219 crore, a sum of Rs 72.49 crore had been released with immediate effect, he added. "The authorities have been directed to ensure payment of salaries directly to bank accounts of teachers and non-teaching staff working against sanctioned posts in non-government schools", Chaudhary said, adding that the funds were sanctioned for the financial 2025-26. Directives have been issued to all officials to maintain transparency in the utilisation of funds released for payment of salaries, he stated. UNI KKS PRS

Five pink toilets for women opened in 4 cities

Patna: Five pink toilets were inaugurated in four Bihar cities on Thursday as a pilot venture, seeking to ensure women and girls have access to secure, hygienic, and private sanitation spaces, protecting them from public harassment. Two toilets were opened in Patna, while one each in Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur and Rajgir with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund from Indian Railway Finance Corporation Limited. Bihar deputy chief minister Samrat Chaudhary led the inauguration ceremony, along with urban development and housing minister Jibesh Kumar. "The distinctive pink colour serves to identify women-specific toilets, which will be operated and maintained by female staff. These facilities are equipped with essential services, including power supply, water access and maintenance standards, complemented by sanitary pad provision, disposal systems, emergency contact numbers and supervision by women attendants," Kumar said. The Indian Railway Finance Corporation Limited is also planning for expansion of the facilities to other cities across the state in subsequent phases.
