Samsung Launched The Galaxy Z Fold 7 But Where Is The Tri-Fold Device?

Last Updated: Samsung Galaxy tri-fold device launch has been in the news for a while and the company might have given us more clues about its unveiling. Samsung Galaxy Unpacked came and went this month, where we saw the new Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Watch 8 series. However, many people expected the brand to have a surprise unveiling or a short teaser for another product, which eventually ended up being the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE model. But where is the tri-fold device that has been in the news for a few months, and Samsung even gave us a teaser of the product at the Galaxy S25 launch in January. A new report gives us more insight into what Samsung plans to do with the next-gen foldable device and when it could launch. Samsung's mobile business chief has reportedly shared the launch details for the tri-fold device which could be called the Galaxy G Fold. TM Roh has been quoted in a report by The Korea Times, saying the company is actively working on the tri-foldable device and it intends to launch the new product later this year. Roh is probably a good source as an official spokesperson for the brand, and these comments suggest Samsung is ironing out the final bits of the new device before having it ready to launch before the year ends. He does not give any specifics on the timeline, but we can assume it could be around October or even November, once the iPhone 17 buzz is over. Samsung Tri-Fold Device Launch: What It Might Offer? Samsung's tri-fold device is still a mystery at least in terms of the features and hardware but a new leak has hinted at its possible launch price. The details from South Korea suggest the Samsung tri-fold price could be around $3,000 (Rs 2.56 lakh approx) which takes it into the Apple Vision Pro territory. Huawei showed us what a tri-fold device can offer, especially when you unfold them. You get a smartphone as well as a 10-inch screen like a tablet packing into one product. The company even offers a keyboard and other accessories to really make use of its versatility. Samsung is expected to have a similar plan for its rumoured Galaxy Fold G model, and it needs the software to be tuned and optimised to run seamlessly across all the avatars of this device. And if the product is going to cost as much, the company needs everything to be close to being perfect. view comments First Published: July 14, 2025, 08:52 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. At the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2025, Google announced that Android users can now use Circle to Search during mobile gaming. This may come as a major support feature for mobile gamers. Samsung Unveils Thinner Galaxy Z Fold7 & Flip7 Foldable Smartphones & New Galaxy Watch 8

Source: Bernard Smalls / Samsung Galaxy Unpacked / Galaxy Z Fold7 / Galaxy Z Flip7 Samsung unpacked its new lineup of foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7, as well as Galaxy Watch 8 smartwatches. On Wednesday, Samsung returned to Brooklyn to showcase their latest offerings from the flagship foldable smartphone lineup. The premium offering, the Galaxy Z Fold7, provides users with a phone and tablet option, while the Galaxy Z Flip7 offers a traditional clamshell cellphone experience in its opening and closing mechanism. Let's explore what makes these models distinct from their predecessors. The Galaxy Z Fold7 Takes A Page Out of The S25 Edge's Playbook Source: Bernard Smalls / Samsung Galaxy Unpacked / Galaxy Z Fold7 In previous years, Samsung played it relatively safe with the Z Fold model, mainly because there wasn't much competition in the foldable market for the Korean tech giant to worry about. For the Galaxy Z Fold7, Samsung decided to take a page out of the recently released Galaxy S25 Edge's playbook by making the Fold7 remarkably thin. Honor, which spun off from Chinese tech giant Huawei in 2020, recently launched its new ultra-thin Magic V5 folding phone. Earlier this year, Oppo launched its own slim foldable, the Find N5. It appears that Samsung is responding with its own thinner model of the Galaxy Z Fold7, which also features some significant upgrades, unlike previous models. The Galaxy Z Fold7, when closed, measures 8.9 millimeters (0.35 inches) and opens to 4.2 millimeters. It's also significantly lighter than its predecessors, weighing 215 grams (7.62 ounces), which puts it on par with the Find N5 and Oppo. Source: Bernard Smalls / Samsung Galaxy Unpacked While the Z Fold7 is much thinner than the previous model, it's also bigger than the Fold6, thanks to its 6.5-inch cover screen and an 8-inch main display. Samsung has also addressed one of the biggest complaints about the Z Fold model: its camera. For years, they made a puzzling decision to release a super-expensive foldable smartphone with a pedestrian camera, but with the Z Fold7, that has officially come to an end. The Z Fold7 features a 200-megapixel primary lens, along with a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and two 10-megapixel front cameras, one on the cover screen and the other on the main display. Source: Bernard Smalls / Samsung Galaxy Unpacked But, there is still a concern with the battery. The Galaxy Z Fold7 has a 4,400 milliampere-hour (mAh) battery, which is significantly less than the competition. The Honor Magic V5 is powered by a 6,100 mAh battery, and the N5 has a 5,600 mAh battery. Samsung does promise the Galaxy Z Fold7 will provide users with 24 hours of video playback. The Galaxy Z Fold7 is now available for pre-order, starting at $1,899.99. The Galaxy Z Flip7 Gets A Cheaper Model Source: Bernard Smalls / Samsung Galaxy Unpacked / Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 Like its big brother, the Galaxy Z Flip7 is also slimmer, measuring 6.5 millimeters when opened. The Flip7 also has a 4.1-inch cover screen and a 6.9-inch main display. Source: Bernard Smalls / Samsung Galaxy Unpacked /Samsung Galaxy Flip7 The camera system on the back of the Flip7 features a 50-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, and a 10-megapixel lens on the main display. Source: Bernard Smalls / Samsung Galaxy Unpacked / Galaxy Z Flip7 While the Z Fold7's battery leaves much to the imagination, the Flip7 features a larger 4,300 mAh battery that Samsung claims can deliver 31 hours of video playback on a single charge. What's new is that Samsung has introduced a cheaper Galaxy Z Flip7 FE model, which is slightly smaller and thicker than the premium offering. The Galaxy Z Flip7 is also available for pre-order and will cost $1,099.99; the Flip7 FE will cost $899.99. The Galaxy Watch8 Brings Gemini To Your Wrist Source: Bernard Smalls / Samsung Galaxy Unpacked / Galaxy Watch8 Classic Last but certainly not least, Samsung also unpacked its new lineup of Galaxy Watch8 smartwatches. On the design side, what immediately stands out is the round face combined with the square back, a feature from last year's Galaxy Watch Ultra model that has been carried over to all versions of the Watch8. On the wrist, it feels much lighter, and that's because it is. Thanks to its new design, the watch now sits flatter on your wrist, according to Jeffrey Kim, Samsung's senior product lead for smartwatches, allowing it to be 11 percent thinner while adding more space for a slightly bigger battery. Most of the updates in the Galaxy Watch8 come in the form of software, primarily AI features. A new Running Coach feature will assess your running ability using a 12-minute running test and generate a custom training program tailored to your needs. Although this feature was designed with beginners and intermediate runners in mind, Samsung claims it can also help train you to run marathons. The sleep tools receive a boost with the new Bedtime Guidance feature, which measures your circadian rhythm to suggest an optimal bedtime for you. That's not all that gets measured while you get your winks in; your watch can also monitor your Vascular Load, which measures your stress levels. The Galaxy Watch8 also brings Gemini, Google's impressive AI tool, to your wrist, replacing the old Google Assistant. You can now save a series of command prompts to your smartwatch using your voice to utilize Gemini, and for the most part, it works pretty well. There is also a new Antioxidant Index, which allows the watch to determine if you're eating enough fruits and veggies by sticking your thumb on the back of the phone's sensor. This is groundbreaking because the test typically requires blood to be drawn, so for those who can't stand the sight of needles or blood, this should be particularly helpful. The Galaxy Watch8 is also a bit pricier than the previous model. We don't know if that has anything to do with Trump's tariffs. The base model is $50 more, starting at $349.99, while the Classic's starting price is $499.99, excluding the LTE versions and larger models. The Watch8 Ultra remains $649. We are currently reviewing the Watch8 Classic and Z Fold7 and will share our thoughts on both devices in the coming days, so keep it locked on HipHopWired . How to pre-order the new Samsung Galaxy devices

Sam Rutherford for Engadget It's hard to believe, but Samsung Galaxy Unpacked is back. The third Unpacked of 2025 so far falls right after the July 4 holiday in the US and smack in the middle of Amazon's Prime Day week. Typically, the company's summer showcase features devices across its foldable and wearable product lines. It also marks the start of pre-orders to reserve the new generation of these newly announced items. This year, Samsung announced three new wearables: the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, the Galaxy Watch 8 and an updated Galaxy Watch Ultra. The company also revealed a trio of new foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. However, despite rumors, Samsung isn't rolling out a Galaxy Z Fold Ultra model — at least not during the Unpacked event. All of the devices announced at Samsung Galaxy Unpacked are available to pre-order starting today. They'll all be generally available to purchase starting Friday, July 25. With that in mind, we've rounded up all the products to look out for, including their specs and any good pre-order deals to consider. If you want some first-person impressions of these devices, check out our hands-on coverage of the Galaxy Watch 8 series, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7 features several notable upgrades over its predecessor. For starters, at 8.9mm, it's almost as thin as the S25 Ultra's 8.2mm and 26 percent thinner than the Fold 6. It also has some updates to its image quality, including a jump from a 50MP to a 200MP main camera. It also offers a 10MP 3X optical zoom camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera and a 10MP cover screen selfie camera. Plus, the screen is a smidge bigger at 8 inches, up from 7.6 inches. The Fold 7 also features multimodal AI, which assists with tasks such as optimizing the main screen's layout and dragging AI creations between apps. However, it does offer the same 4,400 mAh battery as its predecessor, although Samsung claims it should still provide slightly better battery life. It's powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip. The new smartphone comes in three colors: Blue Shadow, Jet Black and Silver Shadow. Both the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 also come in Mint exclusively on Samsung's website. Plus, there's a range of storage options, like 256GB, 512GB and 1TB. $2,000 at Samsung The Galaxy Z Flip 7 has the thinnest bezel of any Galaxy smartphone at 1.25mm. It also has a larger 4.1-inch external display than the 3.4-inch one on the Flip 6. It has quite a few updates from the Flip 6, including a 120Hz refresh rate and 2,600 nit peak brightness, up from 60Hz and 1,600 nits. The Flip 7's main screen has increased in size from 6.7 inches to 6.9 inches, and its cover display has expanded from 3.4 inches to 4.1 inches. Plus, Gemini, the Now bar and Now Brief all work on the Flex Window. Its battery did improve, increasing from 4,000mAh to 4,300mAh. Unlike the Fold 7, its processor is the Exynos 2500. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 comes in Coral Red, Blue Shadow and Jet Black. Then there's also the online exclusive color, Mint. Unlike the Fold, it's only available in 256GB or 512GB options for a starting price of $1,100. $1,100 at Samsung Samsung skipped the Classic model last year, releasing just the Galaxy Watch 7 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra. This means the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is a two-generation jump, so it comes with high expectations. It has the hallmark rotating bezel of the company's Classic smartwatch line, and runs Wear OS 6 with Gemini support out of the box. Let's look at the basics. The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic comes in two standard colors, white and black. It's available in a single 46mm size with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for $500 and with LTE for $550. That's a significant price hike from 2023's Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, which started at $400. $500 at Samsung Like the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, the Galaxy Watch 8 also comes with a price hike, albeit a smaller one. The 40mm Wi-Fi model starts at $350, compared to the $300 of the previous two models. The Galaxy Watch 8 is also available as a 44mm Bluetooth and Wi-Fi model for $380. The LTE versions go for $400 for the 40mm or $430 for the 44mm. The watch comes in Granite or Silver, arguably just a sleeker Black or White. This version of the Galaxy Watch 8 is the slimmest yet, and comes with a new "dynamic lug" strap swapping system. Your old watch bands won't be compatible, so you might need to invest in some if you buy the Watch 8. In exchange, you'll get new features like an antioxidant index test that uses the heart rate sensor on the Galaxy Watch 8, plus Wear OS 6, Gemini support, running guidance, sleep coaching and vascular load insights. The Watch 8's display is also brighter than the Watch 7, with a bigger battery, too. $350 at Samsung The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, or fan edition, is Samsung's first foldable FE phone. It's the cheapest of the three foldables launched today, starting at $900 for the entry-level 128GB model. It's also a more classic look, coming only in black or white. It's basically last year's Galaxy Z Flip 6, down to its dimensions, cameras, screen and battery size, except with an Exynos 2400 processor. And it's $200 cheaper at launch. While the Z Flip 6 is available on sale, it's a better deal than the Z Flip 7 FE. But when you consider that the Flip 7 FE may go for much less when Samsung offers discounts, it does seem to be a budget-friendlier option for those looking to wade into the foldable pool. $900 at Samsung The 2024 Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event saw the company introduce its own Ultra Watch, blatantly taking the name and certain features from Apple. At Unpacked 2025, Samsung quietly released a new version of the Galaxy Watch Ultra. It's not much different from the original, and is largely the same other than coming in a Titanium Blue color option and offering expanded storage of up to 64GB. It also uses the new "dynamic lug" strap system that Samsung introduced with the Watch 8 series this year. $650 at Samsung
