Local students hear from successful people in the community
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — A modern-day Black History celebration took place Thursday in Youngstown.
Students heard from successful people in the community about their ideas to help them achieve their dreams.
They shared how they can improve the community too. The goal was to tell the students that each one of them has the potential and the ability to conquer great things.
'We believe that every individual student has a gift and our gift is to expose them to that and then ultimately put them in a position to be a healthy, prosperous adult,' said Dr. Samuel Muhammad.
Dr. Muhammad drew a parallel between LeBron James and John Gregory who founded the Academy for Urban Scholars High School — that they were two people who ultimately wanted to improve their community.
