Gov. Abbott appoints Concho Valley veteran to military commission
Gov. Greg Abbott has reappointed Michael "Mike" Boyd to the Texas Military Preparedness Commission, according to a recent media release from the Governor's Office.
Boyd of Christoval is a Texas Army National Guard veteran who has over 30 years of service, the media release said. His new term expires Feb. 1, 2031.
"The Commission's goal is to preserve, protect, expand, and attract new military missions, assets, and installations," the media release said. "Additionally, the Commission encourages defense-related businesses to expand or relocate in Texas."
Boyd is the former chairman of Housley Communications Inc., and he is a 2024-2025 National Defense Alliance Defense Community Champion.
In addition, he has served as a trustee for both the San Angelo Health Foundation and the Shannon Medical Center Board, the media release said. He is also a former president of the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo.
Boyd earned a bachelor of business administration from Texas A&M University, a master's in banking from the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking and a military degree from the Command and General Staff College.
Abbott also reappointed Garry Bradford of Corpus Christi and Todd Fox of Belton. All three appointments are subject to Senate confirmation.
