Party pad that has hosted celebs and sports stars hits the market

An iconic skyhome that has hosted VIP parties for sports stars, celebrities and politicians has hit the market. Owned by developer Stephen Pellegrino and his partner Sandra Larkin, the sprawling 681sq m, two-level penthouse in New Farm has been listed with Place Kangaroo Point agents Courtney and Simon Caulfield. And this isn't just any skyhome. It is akin to a sky-high art gallery and private club. The walls are lined with Andy Warhols, Australian pop art and a priceless personal collection, while the trophy room is home to memorabilia from Royal Ascot and the Melbourne Cup, a nod to the couples wins at both meets. Featuring hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of Calcutta gold and grey marble, the couple spent nearly a year gutting the apartment, rebuilding it with the same Italian team behind teh restoration of their 16th-century hunting lodge turned boutique hotel near Lake Garda in Italy. But it wasn't just the finishes that were given a glamorous overhaul. A quarter of a million dollars was spent re-creating the rooftop pool using Lapitec – a revolutionary, silicone-free Italian stone never previously used in Australian residential property. That private rooftop terrace on level eight boasts a 15m magnesium pool, full kitchen and alfresco zones, ideal for parties. There is also a private lift, multiple living zones, a media space, custom bar, triple garage and wine cellar. It also boasts spectacular 360 degree views across Brisbane. 'Just about everyone has partied here,' Sandra said. 'It used to be owned by a high profile restauranteur and he did a lot of entertaining. 'But we have also had a lot of functions. Whenever Collingwood play the Lions in Brisbane, we host the Collingwood Insiders Group who include past captains and players. 'Stephen is the Collingwood supporter. I am for the Lions.' The couple have also held political lunches and host a Riverfire party every year. American soul singer Lisa Hunt performed at one such event. Other features include fully heated floors, expansive floor-to-ceiling glass capturing uninterrupted north-east views of Moreton Island and panoramic vistas of the Story Bridge, Brisbane city and New Farm. The main living areas and bedrooms are located on level seven, including the kitchen with its high-end appliances, extensive storage, Italian Calcutta gold marble island bench, and butler's pantry. Also on this level is three designer bedrooms, and a master suite with a vast walk-in robe, luxurious ensuite and bespoke finishes including floor-to-ceiling Italian Calcutta Gold marble. 'We are selling as we are going to move between Melbourne and the Gold Coast,' Sandra said. 'We have secured a place in Melbourne and something on the Gold Coast and go to the hotel in Italy every year so its a lifestyle change for us after being New Farmers for 25 years.' Top offers close June 24 at 5pm. The listing comes after a Refinery Parade mega penthouse in New Farm recently changed hands for a mind-blowing $17.5 million. It had been owned by a top fund manager who purchased the skyhome for $10 million in 2020 - a record price at the time. The latest sale was handled by Place Estate Agents managing director Sarah Hackett, who received four written offers, all from local families.
