PSJ promotes Jan Lowe to head boys basketball coach
PORT ST. JOE, Fla. (WMBB) – After a 21-win season and a return to the playoffs, the Port St. Joe boys basketball program is undergoing a coaching transition this summer.
Veteran head coach Sandy Quinn is moving into an administrative role within the school, and longtime assistant Jan Lowe has been promoted to head coach.
Lowe, a former Tiger Shark himself, has spent the past few seasons on the coaching staff and played a key role in the program's resurgence. He's been especially active in offseason development and workouts with the young team.
The 2023-24 campaign marked the team's first playoff appearance since 2020, and with most of the roster expected to return, the Sharks are hoping to build on last season's momentum under Lowe's leadership.
Rising juniors, Zay Jenkins and Jayden Reese are expected to be two of the top guards in the Panhandle this upcoming season.
Playing at Franklin County and Port St. Joe, Lowe (Class of 2019) scored nearly 1,200 points in his high school career and averaged over double-digits scoring his sophomore through senior seasons.
