K-9 helps Danville Police arrest convicted felon wanted in Texas
DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — A convicted felon, wanted on a warrant in Texas, was arrested on four different charges Saturday afternoon in Danville.
On April 19 at approximately 4:30 p.m., members of the Danville Police Department Problem Oriented Policing Unit observed a man in the area of Butler and E Williams Streets. He was known to officers as 24-year-old Richard B. Sanford-Beasley, who lists a home address in Danville.

The officers on scene had information that Sanford-Beasley was wanted on a warrant out of the state of Texas.
Danville officers, one of whom was a K-9 handler, tried to approach Sandford-Beasley and he immediately started running. During a short foot pursuit, officers witnessed him drop a firearm that was later found to be loaded.

Sandford-Beasly was then apprehended and arrested with assistance from the police K-9. Officers then transported him to the Vermilion County Public Safety Building, where he was booked on the following charges:
Being wanted on a warrant
Unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon
Aggravated unlawful use of a weapon
Obstruction/resisting a peace officer
