Man stabs 72-year-old neighbour to death
A 72-year-old woman from Kandivali was stabbed to death by a 65-year-old neighbour during an argument on Monday. 'The victim and accused are senior citizens and used to fight over petty issues like filling water from society's common tap etc. We have arrested the accused on the charge of murder under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and will produce him before the court on Tuesday,' said a police officer from Kandivali police station. According to the police officers, the victim is identified as Ranjan Vudhlala Sanghani, a home maker residing in Basanti Bhuvan building next to Balbharti School in Kandivali West. The accused is identified as Ashok Keshwani. The officers said that on Monday at 4:00pm when Sanghani kept some construction material on the common staircase, Keshwani objected to it. As Sanghani refused to remove the material, an argument broke out between the two. It soon turned violent as Keshwani got agitated and in anger, then got a knife and stabbed Sanghani. The police seized the knife and arrested the accused. The victim's body has been sent for postmortem.

72-year-old woman killed in Kandivli building after altercation; 66-year-old neighbour held
Mumbai: A 72-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her neighbour, a 66-year-old man, at a Kandivli building following an altercation on Monday. The police took the accused, Ashok Keswani , into custody. The incident occurred around 3.30 pm on Monday. The property, located near Balbharti School on SV Road, is occupied by a few tenants. Sanghani was unmarried and lived with her sister. According to the police, Sanghani and Keswani had bickered over water-related issues in the past. "Sanghani was getting her house repaired. Construction material for the repairs was kept on the common staircase of the building. This sparked a dispute between her and Keswani on Monday," a police official said. The argument snowballed into violence as Keswani punched the elderly woman in the common area outside her house. Police said he then fetched a kitchen knife from his house and assaulted her. Police were informed about the incident and rushed to the property. Keswani was apprehended and taken to the police station. Sanghani was moved to a hospital where doctors pronounced her dead. She had suffered knife injuries on her hands. Police said Keswani had separated from his spouse; the couple did not have children. Keswani was booked under provisions of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder. Police will record statements of Sanghani's sister and other residents of the property.

3 held for duping merchant of 23cr diamond jewellery
Mumbai: Three men who allegedly cheated a diamond trader of Rs 22.7 crore by assuming different identities were arrested on Friday. The accused took gold and diamond ornaments from the diamond trader to sell them, officials of Economic Offences Wing said, adding that the men had boasted of "business contacts in Qatar, UAE, and Saudi Arabia". Posing as diamond businessmen from Gujarat, Shah and Sanghani invited him to their office in a mall in Khar to talk about diamond and gold business, said the police. Shah and Sanghani initially took diamond ornaments worth Rs 1.25 crore from the trader, sold them, and gave him the proceeds. "This was done to gain his trust," said a police officer. Later, they took diamond and gold ornaments worth Rs 22.75 crore, but did not give money him any money. When the trader inquired at their office in Khar, he learnt it was shut down, the police said.
