400 kV substation at Metro depot in Greater Noida to be ready by July
Noida: A 400 kV substation at Aqua Line's Metro depot in Greater Noida is set to be operational by July. The substation built for over Rs 100 crore is expected to address the increasing power demand in residential, commercial, and institutional zones of Greater Noida.
Built by the Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Limited (UPPTCL), the substation is built under the
public-private partnership
(PPP) of tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB)."The 400 kV substation will also supply power to another 220 kV substation at Metro Depot and RC Greens. Together, these substations will improve the stability of the supply distribution network in Greater Noida," Sanjay Paswan, superintending engineer UPPTCL, told substation features twin high-temperature low-sag (HTLS) conductors on twin direct current (DC) monopoles, designed to operate at higher temperatures with minimal sag.
It will support Greater Noida's growing power needs as the city expands into a data center hub with increasing residential, commercial, and industrial development. Earlier, a 220 kV GIS substation of 2x160 MVA (320 MVA) and 2x63 MVA (126 MVA) capacity, built for Rs 80.6 crore at Metro depot, Greater Noida, was made operational this year.
