The stampede broke out during a victory parade outside the stadium, held to celebrate Royal Challengers Bengaluru's win in the 2025 Indian Premier League. The deceased were taken to the Bowring Hospital in Shivajinagar, the Hindu reported. Fans had gathered in large numbers near Gate 3 of the stadium where the winning team was expected to arrive with the IPL trophy as part of its open-bus parade beginning from Vidhan Soudh. The report noted that the state traffic police was struggling to ensure smooth movement of vehicles in the central business district (CBD) area due to large crowds. The Bengaluru Metro too saw unprecedented footfall of passengers according to the Hindustan Times. The players were felicitated by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar at Vidhan Soudha before they were to head to the stadium, the paper reported. This is a developing story.
