Unregistered, loaded firearm found in felon's car: PD
(KRON) – A convicted felon was found with an unregistered firearm during a traffic stop early Sunday morning, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department. Santa Rosa police officers pulled over a vehicle for equipment and moving violations near Maple Avenue around 4:10 a.m. The driver was identified as 29-year-old Vallejo resident Omar Talley. Due to him being on probation, Santa Rosa PD said he could be subject to search by any law enforcement officer. Per authorities, Talley is prohibited from having a gun due to a prior felony conviction. Talley was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County jail for suspicion of prohibited person in possession of a firearm, prohibited person in possession of ammunition, possession of a concealed firearm in a vehicle, possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle and possessing of a firearm not registered with the Department of Justice. Santa Rosa PD: Ghost gun, fentanyl found in Gucci-like man bag; three arrested
(KRON) — Three men were arrested during a traffic stop in Santa Rosa Friday after police allegedly found a Gucci-inspired handbag containing a ghost gun and fentanyl pills. The traffic stop occurred after a Santa Rosa Police Department officer saw a car with no front license plate driving near the intersection of B and 3rd streets in Santa Rosa around 11:20 p.m. Driver slams into car while evading DUI checkpoint, suspect at large During the stop, the officer allegedly smelled marijuana wafting from the car and saw open containers of marijuana and alcohol in plain sight. Based on the evidence, the officer proceeded to search the car. 'In the backseat of the vehicle was a satchel,' Santa Rosa PD said. 'Inside the satchel contained a loaded, unregistered, unserialized 9mm P80 privately made firearm, as well as suspected fentanyl pills.' After finding the evidence, Santa Rosa PD's gun-detecting K9 'Ghost' was called to the scene. Ghost allegedly alerted officers to a second gun inside the car's trunk. The officers proceeded to search the trunk and found a loaded, unregistered, .40 caliber handgun. The driver, 27-year-old Antonio Monter of Rohnert Park, was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail for possession of a concealed firearm in a vehicle and possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle. Man charged with DUI, manslaughter for running over woman in SF intersection Front-seat passenger, 25-year-old Michael Diaz-Fernandez of Rohnert Park, was arrested for possession of a concealed firearm in a vehicle, possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle and possession of narcotics with a loaded firearm. Santa Rosa police deploy chemical agents, taser to arrest burglary suspect
(KRON) — Authorities in the North Bay used chemical agents, less-lethal projectiles, a taser and a K-9 during a standoff to take a residential burglar into custody on Wednesday, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department. Santa Rosa police responded at 8:35 p.m. to the 2500 block of Meda Avenue after a homeowner reported a burglary in progress. The homeowner, who was not at the residence, saw a man whom she did not know enter her home, SRPD said. Arriving officers observed the suspected burglar, later identified as Jiovanny Rivas, 23, of Santa Rosa, inside the kitchen, according to police. After Rivas refused to leave the home, Santa Rosa PD said officers approached with a police K-9 in an attempt to arrest him. Rivas then allegedly grabbed a large kitchen knife. Officers retreated from the home 'to avoid an armed confrontation,' police said. The suspect then barricaded himself inside a bedroom while the Santa Rosa PD SWAT and Crisis Negotiator teams responded. 'After approximately 4 hours of unsuccessfully trying to engage and speak with [Rivas], officers deployed chemical agents to get him to exit the residence voluntarily,' SRPD said. According to authorities, Rivas left the bedroom with the knife but did not leave the residence. More chemical agents were used, and the suspect again barricaded himself inside a bedroom. Bank robber arrested after fleeing with cash on electric scooter: Sonoma sheriff Officers said Rivas was seen no longer holding the knife, but 'continued with his uncooperative and resistive behavior and attempted to hide under clothing and other items, which concealed his hands from view.' Police then used less-lethal projectiles and a taser to take Rivas into custody. Rivas was treated for injuries at an area hospital before being booked into jail for burglary, resisting an officer and violation of pre-trial release. Unregistered, loaded gun found during Santa Rosa traffic stop
(KRON) – An unregistered loaded firearm was found after a traffic stop, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department. Around 8:10 p.m. on Friday, Santa Rosa police noticed a car with two occupants they said had an equipment-related violation near Burbank Avenue. When officers pulled over the vehicle, they noticed illegal substances, which led to a search of the car. According to Santa Rosa PD, officers found an unregistered loaded 9mm Smith and Wesson pistol with 15 rounds loaded in the magazine under the passenger seat. The firearm was concealed, said police. Overnight Fremont apartment fire leaves 1 dead, 3 injured The driver, according to police, had counterfeit pressed pills, which is a suspected controlled substance. The passenger had a prior felony conviction, police said. The duo was identified as 30-year-old Stockton resident Aaron Washington and 29-year-old San Jose resident Damoreay McCrary. 2 firearms found in vehicle in Santa Rosa: PD
(KRON) – A teenager is facing gun charges after police found two guns in a vehicle, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department. At 12:23 a.m. on Sunday, a Santa Rosa police officer noticed a car parked in the second level of a parking garage in the 700 block of Santa Rosa Plaza. There were four occupants in the car. Santa Rosa PD said the officer developed probable cause to search the vehicle. 2 dead after intoxicated driver overturns vehicle: Vallejo PD In the search, the officer found a Glock 19 9mm and a Glock 21 45 caliber, which was reported stolen from Ukiah, in a satchel in the backseat. According to police, one of the occupants claimed possession of the satchel. The 18-year-old Santa Rosa resident was charged with possession of a firearm in public by someone other than the registered owner, carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle, felon in possession of a firearm, theft of a firearm and possession of stolen property.
