Kanhan cops bust sand smuggling ring of 1.31 crore, 4 arrested
Nagpur: Kanhan police dismantled an illegal sand smuggling network, seizing four trucks and arresting four drivers in a bust valued at a staggering Rs1.31 crore. Acting on a tip-off, police set up a late-night roadblock on National Highway 44 near Sandesh Layout.

First to fall into the trap was a tipper loaded with six brass of sand, driven by Kamlesh Gaurekar. A routine inspection revealed the truck was carrying far more than allowed. The vehicle, worth Rs40 lakh, along with the mined sand was seized. Owner Santosh Baghel of Dongarla, was also named in the case.
Another truck driven by Pawan Chaudhary. It carried 6.5 brass of sand, again beyond limits. In total four drivers were arrested. Cases under BNS Sec 379, Mines and Minerals Act.
