Decide on plea over Char Dham bus operations in 4 weeks: HC
Dehradun: The Uttarakhand high court's single bench of Justice Ravindra Maithani, while disposing of a petition related to bus operations on the Char Dham yatra routes, directed the state transport commissioner to decide on the petitioner's representation within four weeks.
The petition was filed by transporter SK Srivastava, who alleged that the Sanyunkt Rotation Yatra Vyavastha Samiti, constituted by the state govt to ensure smooth bus deployment during the yatra, is not following its rotation policy. Instead of deploying buses from various operators on a rotational basis, the samiti is allegedly selecting vehicles at its discretion and charging high fares.
The petitioner's counsel submitted that a representation regarding this issue had been made to the transport commissioner earlier in 2024, but no action was taken.
He sought liberty to file a fresh representation and requested that the court direct the commissioner to decide on it within a set timeframe.
In response, the state counsel assured the court that the transport commissioner would decide on any fresh representation filed.
The high court, in its order on Friday, granted the petitioner liberty to submit a new representation to the transport commissioner within one week. The court further directed the commissioner to take a decision on the matter within four weeks thereafter.
