Man gets 20-yr RI for raping 13-year-old girl
Kendrapada: A fast-track Pocso court in Jajpur district on Monday sentenced a 34-year-old man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a 13-year-old girl last year.
Additional district and sessions judge Sarat Kumar Dehuri also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on the convict.

Failure to pay the fine would result in an additional two-year imprisonment.
The court has directed the Odisha State Legal Services Authority (OSLSA) to provide a compensation of Rs 7 lakh to the survivor.
Special public prosecutor Partha Sarathi Ray said that on Aug 19, 2024, the convict, who was the girl's neighbour, scaled the boundary wall of her house and sexually assaulted her while she was sleeping. The perpetrator reportedly gagged the minor with a cloth during the assault. The girl's mother filed a complaint at the local police station the next day.
The conviction was secured under Section 4(2) of the Pocso Act, 2012, based on the testimonies from nine witnesses, including the girl, and supporting medical evidence.
