When we resisted, they fired two rounds at us, and one of the bullets hit Sarful Haque in the stomach, causing him to fall on the ground. They also snatched Rs 70,000 cash from my pocket, and took whatever cash other traders had. A total of Rs 3.5 lakh was robbed from us."
A cattle fair is organised in Banmankhi on every Monday. Traders from Bengal, Nepal, and Jharkhand come here to buy cattle. "Criminals scout the traders by observing their appearance and vehicles. They then carry out robberies. Most of the criminals operating here are from Madhepura and have connections with local criminals. We are investigating the matter and trying to identify the criminals involved," said Sarsi SHO, Manish Chandra Yadav.
