Inter-faith prayer meet at residence of Delhi L-G
An inter-faith meeting ('Sarva Dharma Sabha') was held at Raj Niwas, the official residence of Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, amidst India-Pakistan tensions on Saturday.
The gathering took place before the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between the countries in the evening.
The meeting was attended by Saxena, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, and Chief Secretary Dharmendra.
Faith leaders from the Jain, Buddhist, Christian, Sikh, Muslim, and Hindu communities participated in the event, offering prayers for the strength of Indian troops and the country's well-being, as per a statement from the L-G's office.
At the Sabha, speakers across faiths stressed that their foremost identity was that of an Indian, and that the entire country — irrespective of religion, caste, or community — stood united behind the armed forces.
The assembly resonated with chants of 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai', 'Vande Mataram', and 'Hum Sab Ek Hain.'
