Oilers' Evander Kane: 3 Potential Trade Destinations
EDMONTON -- The best day of the year is almost here. Trade Deadline day is almost upon the hockey world and the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers are in a unique position that separates them from every other team. On March 1st, Evander Kane had to submit a 16-team approved trade list to the Oilers. On Elliotte Friedman's Saturday Headlines, he reported that the Oilers were gauging the market to see if there was a fit anywhere. *Vote in the poll to let us know what you think. With that being said, what teams have the cap space and the desire to add a player like Kane to their roster? What teams or organizations are desirable locations for Kane to put on his 16-team list? Here are three potential options that might interest the Oilers' power forward. The Boston Bruins and Kane seem like a matchmaker's dream. Kane plays the bruising brand of hockey that has become synonymous with the Bruins. Kane would step into the role that Milan Lucic vacated after he left the Bruins following a leave of absence tied to a domestic altercation. Kane would immediately slide into the Bruins' top-six forward group. Despite a 3-5-2 record in their last 10 games, the Bruins are only two points behind the final Wild Card position in the Eastern Conference. The Bruins have $5.793 million in deadline cap space, allowing them to absorb Kane's contract without the Oilers needing to retain any salary. Now, would Kane have the Bruins on his allowed trade list? Given the organization's history and reputation around the league, it's safe to say that they could easily be on his list. Oilers Trade Targets: Could Karel Vejmelka Be The Answer In Net? On Thursday, we examined Jordan Binnington as a possible fix to the Edmonton Oilers' goaltending woes. 3 Edmonton Oilers Who Might Get Traded Oilers' Evander Kane Has To Make Important Decision Oilers Need To Ride The Hot Hand Edmonton Oilers 2025 Trade Deadline Tracker Oilers Game Schedule For March 2025 EDMONTON -- It's trade deadline month. The Utah Hockey Club might only be in their first season in the NHL, but they are within striking distance of the second Western Conference Wild Card spot. They are two points behind the last Wild Card position, currently occupied by the Vancouver Canucks. The rest of the league had better look out because Utah could be a big buyer regarding the trade deadline. They currently have $28.522 million in deadline cap space. Not only could they take on Kane's contract, but they could also add multiple pieces without batting an eye. The most significant question mark in this potential scenario is whether Kane considers the Utah Hockey Club a good enough team to put on his list. Given the excitement surrounding the organization, it's easy to think that Utah could have squeaked in. The final potential landing spot for a Kane deal is a scary one. However, it shouldn't be overlooked. The Florida Panthers put Matthew Tkachuk on LTIR on Sunday. This now gives the Panthers $8.7 million in cap space to acquire more players before Friday's deadline. Because of that, they naturally would look to add a forward who could provide a scoring touch with a side of snarl. Despite the rivalry between the Panthers and Oilers, it's easy to see why Kane would put the Panthers on his allowed trade list. They are fresh from a Stanley Cup and have as good of a chance as the Oilers to go all the way. Also, Florida doesn't have taxes so that he could keep more of his money. Given these teams' playoff positions, current cap space, and desirable locations, Kane could easily have included them on his allowed trade list. Oilers fans must wait until Friday to see if these destinations come to fruition. Add us to your Google News favorites, and never miss a story.

2 Suitors For Blues' Brayden Schenn Revealed: Report
Brayden Schenn (© James Guillory-Imagn Images) The 2025 NHL trade deadline is rapidly approaching, and the St. Louis Blues are a top team to watch. The Central Division club has created plenty of buzz in the rumor mill, with captain Brayden Schenn being one of their top trade candidates. On Sportsnet's latest edition of Saturday Headlines, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman named two teams that are interested in acquiring Schenn from the Blues. "For Toronto, it's pretty common knowledge they are looking hard at centers," Friedman said. "I think one player they are definitely, definitely considering in terms of both acquisition cost, and is there any way they can do possible retention, is Brayden Schenn of the St. Louis Blues... But I don't believe the Maple Leafs are the lone team in considering this. I believe there are others. One of them, although they haven't confirmed it, obviously, is Vegas." Saturday Headlines: — Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) March 2, 2025 It is easy to understand why the Maple Leafs have their eyes on Schenn. He would not only give them that much-needed boost down the middle but also provide them with a proven winner. However, the same can be said about the Golden Knights, as they could use another high-impact and hard-nosed veteran like Schenn in their lineup. Schenn has complete control over whether or not he will be traded by the deadline, though. This is because he has a full no-trade clause this season, so he would need to give the green light to any potential move. Schenn, 33, has appeared in 61 games this season with the Blues, where he has 12 goals, 37 points, and 151 hits. The Blues captain is also signed until the completion of the 2027-28 season, carrying a $6.5 million cap hit. Could The Schenn Brothers Be Reunited Ahead Of The NHL Trade Deadline?
However, Brayden and Luke Schenn experienced that before with the Philadelphia Flyers, and they could be teammates again before the March 7 trade deadline. During Sportsnet's "Saturday Headlines" segment with Elliotte Friedman on Hockey Night In Canada, the insider reported that teams are discussing uniting the Schenn brothers. HNIC Saturday Headlines: Carolina has made a big offer to Rantanen, he needs time to decide. Brayden Schenn has not been approached about a trade. Teams looking to try acquire both Schenn brothers. Seth Jones has asked for a trade preferably to a contender. #RaiseUp #stlblues… — NHL Trade Alert (@NHLTradeAlert) February 23, 2025 Both players have separately been in trade talks and rumors throughout this season. Nonetheless, this is the first time rumblings have emerged about the brothers being traded to the same team. Friedman added that the St. Louis Blues haven't approached Brayden about any potential trades, and he later credited The Hockey News' Lou Korac with the initial report that the 33-year-old hasn't been asked to waive his no-trade clause. After this season, Brayden will have a 15-team no-trade list instead of a full no-trade clause. Also, he'll have three more years remaining on his contract while earning $6.5 million against the salary cap. There are several sets of brothers in the NHL, and except for Jack and Luke Hughes, siblings do not often become teammates. Nashville Predators defenseman Luke Schenn earns $2.75 million per season and is in the second year of his three-year contract. Next year, he will become a pending UFA. The Saskatoon natives shared parts of four seasons with the Flyers from 2012-2016 before Luke was traded to the Los Angeles Kings. Since then, Luke has played for seven different teams, including two different stints with the Vancouver Canucks and back-to-back Stanley Cups with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2020 and 2021. As for Brayden, he would play one more season with the Flyers after his brother's departure before being traded to the Blues in June 2017. The center is in his eighth season with St. Louis and captained them for the last two campaigns. The Blues captain has scored 11 goals and has 32 points this season in 57 appearances. In St. Louis' last outing in a shootout loss to the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday, Brayden had 19:32 of ice time, the most he's played since Jan. 18, when he clocked 20:11 of ice time against Utah Hockey Club. The Predators blueliner, Luke, has one goal and four assists in 55 games. He picked up his fourth helper of the season in Saturday's win against the Colorado Avalanche with a primary assist on the game-winning goal from Jonathan Marchessault. He was awarded the third star of the game for his performance.
