‘My condition is very bad': Ex J&K Governor Satyapal Malik shares hospital photo hours after CBI files chargesheet against him

Former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik on Thursday shared a photo of himself from a hospital bed, saying his health is 'very bad.' Just hours earlier, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a chargesheet against him and six others in a corruption case linked to the Rs 2,200-crore Kiru Hydropower Project . In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Malik wrote, 'Hello friends, I'm getting many calls from well-wishers but unable to respond. I'm currently admitted to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi and not in a condition to talk.' — SatyapalMalik6 (@SatyapalMalik6) He also posted a photo showing himself unconscious or resting on a hospital bed, dressed in a hospital gown and attached to medical wires. He asked people to contact his aide, KS Rana, for any updates. On the same day, the CBI filed a chargesheet against Malik, his two private secretaries, and four others. The case involves alleged irregularities in awarding the civil work contract for the Kiru Hydroelectric Project in Kishtwar, valued at Rs 2,200 crore. Live Events Malik served as the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir from August 2018 to October 2019. The CBI alleges that proper e-tendering guidelines were not followed in the awarding of the contract. The project is being executed by Chenab Valley Power Projects Private Limited. Earlier raids and recoveries In February 2024, the CBI raided more than 30 locations, including premises linked to Malik, as part of the investigation. Earlier, on 29 January, it carried out searches at eight locations in Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir. During these operations, the agency recovered digital devices, property documents, and more than Rs 21 lakh in cash. Officials also claimed to have found several incriminating documents.
