Tribune News Network Doha Qatar Airways (QA) has announced the signing of a strategic agreement with Barzan Holdings, and Satys Aerospace, a global specialist in aircraft painting and surface treatment solutions, to establish a pioneering widebody aircraft painting facility at Dukhan Air Base. In a statement, Qatar Airways said that this milestone collaboration forms part of a long-term partnership between Qatar Airways, Barzan Holdings, and Satys, aimed at enhancing Qatar's aviation ecosystem throughcapability building, technology transfer, and innovation. The new Qatar facility will be the first widebody Satys paint facility in the region to feature next-generation digital technology aircraft painting. Designed to accommodate commercial, VIP, and military aircraft, the project will include two widebody paint facilities, including a multipurpose hangar for light maintenance activities. The new facility will serve as a regional hub for airline operators across the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent, offering access to specialised painting services that reduce aircraft ground time by eliminating the need to ferry aircraft overseas for livery changes or repainting. The cutting-edge digital technology with future plans for automatic robotic painting leverages environmentally friendly paint systems, including energy-efficient booths and waste management controls. The facility will also enable dual-use operations, supporting both civil and defence aviation needs by meeting respective technical and safety specifications, in full alignment with Qatar's strategy to localize high-value services, championing local aerospace expertise. This initiative reflects the shared commitment of Qatar Airways and Barzan Holdings to support Qatar National Vision 2030 by building high-value industrial capabilities, creating skilled jobs and promoting Qatar as a global leader in aviation technology and services. Airod, Satys ink joint venture agreement to enhance Malaysia's aircraft MRO sector

KUALA LUMPUR: Aerospace engineering company Airod Sdn Bhd has signed a joint venture agreement with Satys Aircraft Painting to boost the capabilities of Malaysia's aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) sector, particularly in exterior finishing and aircraft painting. Headquartered in France, Satys is a global expert in aircraft painting, sealing, and surface finishing, providing services to major original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and airlines worldwide. In a joint statement, the two companies said their synergy aims to support the Asia-Pacific region's commercial and military aviation sectors. They said the partnership is expected to stimulate job creation, knowledge transfer, and capacity development, aligning with Malaysia's Aerospace Master Plan and strengthening Sarawak's aspirations in the growing aerospace industry. Airod director Datuk Firhad Uzir Rahim said the collaboration with Satys would bring world-class technology and services into the country's local ecosystem. "This marks a significant milestone in the development of Malaysia's aerospace sector and aligns with the government's aspiration to establish Malaysia as a regional aerospace hub," he said. Meanwhile, Saty's chief executive officer, Christophe Cador, said the partnership reflects their confidence in Malaysia's aerospace industry and sets a new benchmark for MRO in the region. The signing ceremony took place at the Courtyard Marriott in Toulouse, France, and was witnessed by Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg. The event was also attended by senior leaders and guests from Airod and Satys, as well as key representatives from the Sarawak state government.

Flying in from London yesterday (local time) after a weeklong working visit to the United Kingdom, he witnessed the signing of a collaboration agreement between Kuala Lumpur-based Airod Sdn Bhd and French industrial and international group Satys. According to the Premier's official Facebook page Sarawakku, this collaboration is anticipated to stimulate growth, drive technological advancement, and unlock new opportunities within Malaysia's aerospace ecosystem particularly in supporting Sarawak's aspirations in the sector. Airod is Malaysia's premier aerospace maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) organisation, while Satys is a French company renowned for its expertise in aircraft painting and sealing. The agreement was formalised through an exchange of official documents between Airod Aerospace Technology chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Firhad Uzir Abdul Rahim and Satys CEO Christopher Cador. Also present to witness the signing ceremony were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan; Minister of Transport Sarawak Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin; State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; State Attorney General Dato Sri Saferi Ali; State Financial Secretary Dato Sri Dr Wan Lizozman Wan Omar; Deputy State Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel; and Nadi Group chairman Tan Sri Ahmad Johan. Today (local time), the Premier and his delegation are scheduled to visit the Airbus and ATR facilities located near Toulouse. According to the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), the second day of the Premier's working visit to Toulouse will begin with a visit to the final assembly plant of ATR, a world-leading turboprop aircraft manufacturer in France. The delegation will be taken to the ATR Final Assembly Line facility on Route de Bayonne and given a comprehensive briefing on the aircraft assembly process. They will then head to the ATR Headquarters and ATR Customer Experience Studio to review the company's latest innovations and customer experience approach. Next, the delegation will depart for the Airbus Campus in Blagnac and attend a lunch and professional networking session at the Airspace Customer Showroom – Agoahub, hosted by Airbus International president Wouter van Wersch.
