UP T-20 League auction: Four city players fetch bids
Kanpur: Four out of 24 cricketers from Kanpur were purchased by the franchisee team owners for the UP T–20 league in an auction held in Lucknow on Wednesday evening. The players sold are Upendra Yadav, Almas Shaukat, Saubhagya Mishra and Nishant Gaud.
Two players, Adarsh Singh and Mohd Sharim, have been retained by their old teams.
Upendra, a railway player, was sold by Kashi Rudraksh for Rs 13.50 lakhs. Yadav, a wicket-keeper batsman, has played for IPL team Sunrisers XI and was the third costliest player in the auction.
UP Ranji Trophy player Almas Shaukat was purchased by Gorakhpur Lions at a cost of 4.10 lakhs. Earlier, he was part of Noida Super Kings in the first season and thereafter, Kashi Rudraksh in the second season of the league.
Medium pacer Nishant Gaud was purchased by Lucknow Falcon. He was first selected in Kanpur Premier league, where he was awarded the best economical bowler title. His base price was Rs 3 lakhs.
Kanpur Super Star team owners showed interest in Saubhagya Mishra and secured him at the base price of Rs 3 lakhs.
Former Ranji Trophy pacer of UP, Ankit Rajput, will be part of Gorakhpur Lions as coaching staff. He was present at the auction with the Gorakhpur team owner's band.
