New South London Popeyes to open bringing 56 new jobs to neighbourhood

Popeyes UK has announced that it will be bringing their world-famous Louisiana-style fried chicken to South London, inviting locals to try out the New Orleans experience. This is the 12th branch Popeyes has opened this year and the 77th since initially landing in the UK. The franchise promises to pull out all the stops, showcasing its New Orleans hospitality with exciting launch day giveaways for locals. Thursday's 11am opening, will feature Popeyes iconic 100 per cent fresh halal-certified chicken. As well as a firm standalone star of the show, it forms the basis of many fan favourites. The branch is set to bring 56 new jobs to the area. Said to be marinated for 12 hours in a signature blend of bold Louisiana seasoning, then hand-breaded and battered to deliver its classic 'shatter crunch chicken'. To create an unforgettable celebration, Popeyes is giving locals a chance to win a year-long feast of their fried chicken. The first three lucky people in the queue will be treated to free Chicken Sandwiches for a full year. The menu and flavours on offer don't stop there though - with the new Saucin' Boneless and Hot wings range featuring bold, New Orleans-inspired flavours from cheesy Garlic Parm to spicy Buffalo, there's plenty to excite fans' tastebuds. As usual, both dine-in and takeaway options will be available. Compared to KFC, Popeyes may be considered the newer kid on the block when it comes to the UK fried chicken scene, considering its first opening in 2021 in East London's Westfield. However, it is quickly becoming a household name with more than 4,000 restaurants across the UK, steadily establishing themselves firmly within the UK fried chicken scene. Tom Crawley, Popeyes UK CEO said: 'We can't wait to bring a taste of New Orleans to locals in the Elephant & Castle area from 17th April." Local seasoned fried chicken fanatics who fancy trying their hand at winning a year-round chicken feast, will want to be first in line for the 9am queue opening at Walworth Road on Thursday, April 17. If anything, it'll be worth getting up for the 'Brekkie' menu featuring the Chicken Brekkie Roll and Cajun Hash Brown.
