MUSCAT: Seeb clinched an exciting 3-2 victory over Majees in a thrilling encounter held on Wednesday evening at Sohar Sports Complex as part of the second round of the final qualifiers for the Oman Volleyball League. The match witnessed a large crowd in attendance. The first set saw a strong start from Majees scoring three consecutive points, capitalising on Seeb's reception and serving errors. Seeb attempted a comeback, with Saud al Maamari narrowing the gap, but Majees, led by Cristian and Hilal al Muqbali, extended their lead to 13-10. Despite Seeb's late efforts to equalise, Majees secured the set with a narrow 25-23 win after a fierce exchange of points. Seeb's Saud al Maamari opened the second set with a point, but Majees quickly equalised. Seeb then took control, with Boukdan and Al Saadi leading the attack, though Majees briefly led 5-4. The set remained tight, but Seeb edged ahead 16-14 and held their lead to win 25-23, levelling the match at 1-1. The third set was fiercely competitive, with Majees making a strong start by scoring two quick points. Seeb responded with points from Ahmed al Toubi and Saud al Maamari, bringing the score to 18-18. In the crucial moments, Majees capitalised on defensive errors from Seeb, managing to snatch the set with a close 26-24 win, reclaiming the lead in the match. However, Seeb quickly responded through Ismail al Haidi and Al Jalboobi, levelling the score. The teams exchanged points, but Seeb exploited Majees' defensive errors to take a 6-4 lead. With precise attacks and solid defence, Seeb took control and closed the set with a commanding 25-18 victory, forcing the match into a decisive fifth set. DECISIVE SET Seeb started the deciding set aggressively, with Saud al Maamari scoring the first point, followed by two additional points from Boukdan and Ismail al Haidi, establishing a 6-2 lead. Majees fought back, cutting the deficit to 8-6, but Seeb did not allow them to complete the comeback. Seeb maintained their dominance with powerful attacks from Al Jalboobi and Al Maamari, sealing the set 15-10 and claiming a hard-fought victory that solidified their position at the top of the league standings. With this win, Seeb strengthened their lead in the standings, raising their total to 15 points, while Majees remained in second place with 11 points.

MUSCAT, MARCH 1 Al Seeb clinched a hard-fought victory against Majees with a 3-2 scoreline in an exciting encounter held on Friday, as part of the final qualifiers for the Oman Volleyball League (OVL). The match took place at the main hall of Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher. The game witnessed an outstanding performance from Seeb players, with Mahmoud al Saadi, Ahmed al Toubi, Saud al Maamari, and Ismail Al Haidi standing out. On the other side, Majees' duo Ibrahim al Mazini and Pakistani professional Imal delivered an impressive performance, contributing significantly to their team's strong showing. The match began with Majees taking control early on, capitalising on Imal's powerful spikes and Al Mazini's precise serves and defensive coverage. Majees gradually extended their lead, exploiting Seeb's defensive errors to claim the first set 25-19. In the second set, Seeb responded strongly, regaining balance and improving their defensive organisation. The team relied on an offensive duo of Mahmoud Al Saadi and Ahmed Al Toubi, who formed a formidable presence at the net, supported by Saud al Maamari in back-row attacks. Additionally, Seeb's effective serving disrupted Majees' defence, allowing them to dominate the set and win it 25-18, levelling the match at 1-1. Majees bounced back in the third set, with Imal continuing his stellar performance in attack and Al Mazini excelling in blocking. This dominance helped Majees secure the set 25-17, regaining the lead at 2-1.

Seeb Club claims 3rd spot at Arab Men's Volleyball Club Championship

MUSCAT, JAN 26 Seeb Club finished in third place at the 43rd Arab Men's Volleyball Club Championship, which concluded in Qatar on Saturday night. Oman's representative club at the Arabian Volleyball meet managed to defeat Qatar's Police SC by 3-1. The scoreline of the sets ended as follows: 25-22, 25-23, 25-20 and 25-21. Oman's other representative in the tournament, Al Salam Club, completed the tournament in sixth place following their loss against Libyan Asswehly SC by the same result, 3-1, in the fifth and sixth playoff. The match sets finished at 25-23, 17-25, 25-20 and 21-25. Seeb players began the match strongly against Qatar's Police SC, taking the first set 25-22. Saud al Maamari and his teammates then dominated, winning the following set by a three-point gap with the same score before the opponent bounced back in the third set, winning 25-20. In the concluding set, Seeb players, under the guidance of domestic coach Jamal al Maamari, confirmed their triumph, sealing the victory at 25-21. In the last edition of the tournament, the opponent had won against Seeb in the third and fourth playoff. Seeb's Ismail al Hedi won the best player award in the position of No 2. In the semifinal of the Arabian tournament, Seeb suffered a 3-2 loss against Egypt's Al Ahli SC, while Egypt's Zamalek SC were crowned champions of the tournament following their 3-0 win over Zamalek SC in the concluding match. Seeb head coach, Jamal al Maamari, said: "This is the second time we have won the bronze medal in the Arabian tournament. Our target was to win a better position, but I hope to represent the team much better in the forthcoming editions. It was a golden participation for Seeb Club in this event, and great thanks to Seeb's board directors for their continuous support," he concluded.
