Saudi, Greek Culture Ministers Co-chair Strategic Partnership Council Meeting
The Saudi Minister of Culture, Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, and his Greek counterpart, Lina Mendoni, co-chaired the inaugural meeting of the Culture Committee of the Saudi-Greek Strategic Partnership Council, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). During the meeting, which took place in Jeddah, the Saudi Culture Minister welcomed his Greek counterpart and her accompanying delegation to Saudi Arabia, hoping that their visit will offer the opportunity to discover the Kingdom's rich cultural heritage and deep-rooted history. Furthermore, Prince Badr stressed that the meeting aims to bolster international cultural exchange between Saudi Arabia and Greece for the benefit of their peoples. Both ministers underscored the importance of fostering bilateral cultural exchange and activating the July 2022 memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cultural cooperation. The Saudi and Greek Culture Ministers praised cooperation between both countries, demonstrated by Greece's participation in the second edition of Saudi International Handicrafts Week (Banan) in Riyadh in November 2024. It was also evident in the Benaki Museum in Athens participation in the Islamic Arts Biennale 2025, running from January to May in Jeddah. Moreover, the Ministers hailed the Saudi Cultural Week, held in Athens in 2024, which featured a dedicated pavilion for the 'Year of the Camel 2024' initiative. It also included music and theatrical performances, traditional crafts' workshops, culinary arts shows, Arabic calligraphy exhibition, a fashion show, Saudi films, and other cultural displays. Saudi Arabia, Greece Discuss Strengthening Cultural Relations
Saudi Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan and his Greek counterpart Dr. Lina Mendoni have co-chaired the inaugural meeting in Jeddah of the Culture Committee of the Saudi-Greek Strategic Partnership Council. Prince Badr welcomed his Greek counterpart to the Kingdom, expressing hope that the visit would offer her insight into the Kingdom's rich cultural heritage and deep-rooted historical legacy. He emphasized that the meeting aims to strengthen international cultural exchange between the two countries for the mutual benefit of their peoples. The two ministers underscored the importance of enhancing cultural cooperation between the Kingdom and Greece and activating the memorandum of understanding on cultural collaboration, signed in July 2022. They praised the ongoing collaboration between the two nations, highlighted by Greece's participation in the second annual Saudi Crafts Week (Banan) held in Riyadh in November, as well as the participation of Greece's Benaki Museum in the Islamic Arts Biennale 2025, currently taking place in Jeddah from January through May. Both ministers commended the organization of the 'Saudi Cultural Week in Greece,' held last year at the Zappeion Hall in Athens, featuring a special pavilion for the 'Year of the Camel 2024' initiative along with musical and theatrical performances, traditional crafts workshops, culinary arts pavilions, a calligraphy exhibition, a fashion show, Saudi film screenings, and other cultural showcases.

Saudi and Greek ministers chair inaugural meeting of joint cultural committee
JEDDAH: Saudi Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan and his Greek counterpart, Lina Mendoni, chaired the inaugural meeting of the Saudi-Greek Strategic Partnership Council's Culture Committee on Wednesday. The ministers said it was important to strengthen cultural cooperation between Riyadh and Athens, and activate a memorandum of understanding they signed in July 2022, the Saudi Press Agency reported. Prince Badr said the committee will help achieve this. The ministers praised the Saudi Cultural Week hosted by Athens from Sept. 27 to Oct. 1, 2024, which showcased musical and theatrical performances, films, traditional crafts, food, Arabic calligraphy and fashion from the Kingdom. Greece participated at Saudi International Crafts Week in Riyadh in November 2024, and the Benaki Museum in Athens is taking part in the Islamic Arts Biennale, which began in January in Jeddah and continues until May. Other senior Saudi and Greek officials present at the committee meeting included Alexis Konstantopoulos, the Greek ambassador to the Kingdom.
