The holiday will start on the Day of Arafat, falling on Thursday June 5, 2025 and last until Sunday June 8, 2025. Moreover, the HRSD stressed that employers should take into account the overlapping cases stipulated in Article 24 of the Executive Regulations of the Saudi Labor Law to ensure that the holiday is implemented in line with the applicable rules. On Tuesday, Saudi Arabia confirmed the sighting of Dhu'al-Hijjah crescent moon, announcing Wednesday, May 28, 2025 the first day of the final month of the Islamic calendar. Saudi Arabia Starts 6-Month Grace Period To Correct Status Of Runaway Domestic Workers
The Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development announced a six-month grace period for correcting the status of domestic workers, who are reported absent from work (huroob), effective from Sunday, May 11. This grace period will apply only to workers who were reported absent before the date of this announcement. The ministry said that the initiative is part of its efforts to regulate the labor market. It allows domestic workers, who have previously been reported as absentees and are still illegally present in the Kingdom, to correct their status by transferring their services to other employers after completing the necessary procedures. This grace period aims to give domestic workers, who are still staying in the Kingdom after running away from their workplace, as well as their employers a chance to correct legal status through automated procedures on the Musaned platform. If a domestic worker was reported absent before May 11, but did not leave the country, they can now transfer to a new employer. The new employer must complete the required steps through Musaned to make the transfer official. New employers can log into the Musaned and complete the procedures automatically, contributing to improving the work environment and safeguarding the rights of both domestic workers and their employers. It is noteworthy that Musaned is the official platform of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development for household services and home employment program, which came into being in 2016. It is one of the initiatives of the ministry to develop the recruitment sector in the Kingdom.

Astronomy Data Says Saudi Arabia to Celebrate Eid Al Fitr on March 30
Rabat — Arab Times Online cited the Al Ojairi Scientific Center, which expects Eid Al Fitr to be on March 30 in Saudi Arabia. Several reports expect March 30 to be the first month of Shawaal, the tenth month in the Islamic calendar marking the end of Ramadan. The astronomy calculations are not the final announcements, as Saudi Arabia and other Muslim countries will assign religious committees to sight the crescent moon for Eid Al Fitr in the coming weeks. The Gulf country is already gearing up for Eid Al Fitr celebrations, and the Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has already announced a four-day holiday. Grazia Magazine said that 'considering Saudi Arabia's weekends fall on Friday and Saturday, the people of Saudi Arabia will get to enjoy a six-day break.' Eid Al Fitr celebrations include morning prayers when citizens flock to mosques to carry out feast prayers. The prayers consist of two rak'at, the iteration of prescribed movements performed by Muslims as part of salah or prayers. There are also six additional takbirs (the Arabic phrase Allahu Akbar). Following the mosque, families gather for their first-morning breakfast feast following a month of fasting from dawn to dusk. During Eid Al Fitr, family visit exchanges are also common in the Arab world. Saudi Arabia started fasting Ramadan on March 1 this year, along with the UAE and Qatar, among others. In many other countries like Morocco, however, Ramadan started on March 2.

Saudi Arabia Grants Private Sector 4-Day Eid Al-Fitr Holiday
The Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development announced a four-day Eid Al-Fitr holiday for private and non-profit sectors. This annual celebration marks Ramadan's conclusion, fostering family reunions and charitable acts nationwide. Employees will begin their holiday after work on Saturday, 29 Ramadan (29 March), resuming duties four days later. However, final dates depend on moon-sighting committees, which may extend festivities if Eid begins later. Compliance With Labor Regulations Emphasized The ministry urged employers to follow Article 24 of the Labor Law's executive regulations. This rule mandates paid leave and compensatory pay for staff working during official holidays, ensuring fairness and adherence to labor rights. Furthermore, the policy aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 goals to enhance work-life balance and employee well-being. Over 10 million private-sector workers will benefit, reflecting the kingdom's commitment to modernized labor reforms. Public Sector Holidays to Follow Official Announcement While private entities must comply immediately, public sector holidays await a separate government declaration. Traditionally, both sectors receive similar breaks, allowing nationwide participation in prayers, feasts, and cultural activities. The ministry reaffirmed that Eid celebrations strengthen social ties and spiritual renewal. This announcement underscores Saudi Arabia's focus on harmonizing religious traditions with progressive labor policies, ensuring both economic productivity and employee welfare during Islam's joyous festival.
