‘Savannah GPS': How you can help shape the city's future
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — A new initiative called 'Savannah GPS' is placing residents in charge of the future. According to city leaders, 'Savannah GPS' is a bold new effort to map out the city's future. They're turning to residents for directions. From online surveys to community meetings – this is your chance to help shape the future of our city. Your input will affect the city's future to improve safety, economic growth, community development, infrastructure, municipal standards, and quality of life. The proposed draft plan can be found below. Proposed-Savannah-GPS-Your-Strategic-Plan-1Download The city is taking public comments until June 20th. The First Public Hearing on the proposed Plan (similar to a first reading) at the Council Meeting on June 12th. The proposed Plan will be the focus of the presentation at the upcoming Savannah at Night Town Hall on June 25th. SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — The City of Savannah needs your voice! A new initiative called 'Savannah GPS' is placing residents in charge of the future. This will affect the city's future to improve safety, economic growth, and quality of life. City leaders are rolling out 'Savannah GPS' – a bold new effort to map out the city's future – and they're turning residents for directions. From online surveys to community meetings – this is your chance to help shape the future of our city. 'Savannah GPS' is a new strategic planning initiative designed to guide the city's focuses on 6 key goals, such as public safety, community development, economic opportunity, and improving infrastructure. The city will host seven community engagement meetings, starting with a virtual kickoff this Saturday at 10 a.m. In-person meetings will take place in each district from February 3rd to February 10th giving residents a chance to connect with council members and share their ideas for a safer, more prosperous Savannah. The city manager, Jay Melder, has emphasized the importance of public participation saying, 'With your help, we will make savannah an even better place to live, work, play, and prosper.'
