Savannah to host 2025 USATF National Junior Olympics
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — According to an email from a spokesperson from Visit Savannah, the Hostess City will be the site of the 2025 USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships. 'Savannah, Georgia, in coordination with the Savannah Sports Council, has been selected by the USATF as the host city for the 2025 U.S. Track & Field National Junior Olympic Championships. This event will bring in thousands of youth athletes from all 50 states and their families. The city should prepare for a huge influx of visitors during this historic event,' according to the email. Savannah to host NAIA Men's and Women's Lacrosse Championships
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — The Hostess City will host the 2025 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Women's Lacrosse National Championship and the inaugural NAIA Men's Lacrosse National Championship at Memorial Stadium. The Savannah Sports Council announced the decision on Wednesday, March 19. This will be the second consecutive year that Savannah will host the NAIA Women's Lacrosse Championship. The men's event will transition from an invitational to a full championship format for the first time, following the successful 2024 NAIA Men's Invitational. The women's championship will take place April 30 to May 3, with the men's championship being held May 7 to May 10. 'The Savannah and Chatham County region is thrilled to welcome back the NAIA Men's and Women's Lacrosse Championships.' President and CEO of Visit Savannah and the Savannah Sports Council Joseph Marinelli said. 'Both events have generated a tremendous amount of excitement around the community in the past and it's another terrific opportunity for interested local and youth groups to come out and enjoy the fun and competitions.' These championships will follow an eight-team, single-elimination format, with the nation's top NAIA lacrosse programs competing to hoist the National Championship Red Banner. 'The NAIA is thrilled to return to Savannah for the 2025 Men's and Women's Lacrosse National Championships!' Rick Daum the Championship Sport Manager for NAIA said.
