Mika Singh Says Critics Mocked Him For Crying On Reality Shows
Last Updated:
Mika Singh revealed how he started crying in front of Priyanka Chopra during his singing performance in a reality show.
Mika Singh has always been vocal about his opinion. Known for delivering many hit songs in his long career, the singer revealed that sometimes he is unaware of his singing ability to hit certain notes. In a recent interview, he opened up about a shocking incident when he cried in front of Priyanka Chopra while performing on a reality show. He also claimed that many people criticised him for getting emotional while singing and called it drama.
During a podcast with Shubhankar Mishra on his YouTube channel, Mika said, 'Sometimes I would cry listening to my songs. I think it's age also. I cried after singing two lines of a song on a reality show. If I tell somebody, they won't believe me. They will say, 'Kaunsa tu Tansen ki aulad hai'."
Recalling that incident, the Sawan Mein Lag Gayi Aag singer revealed, 'I was singing the song 'Bade Achhe Lagte Hain' at the show, and I became happy listening to myself sing. Priyanka Chopra was sitting beside me, and I started crying. Trolls said, 'He can't sing, that's why he is crying.' Now, the whole industry cries on reality shows, but when I used to do that, people would ask me, 'Why are you doing this?'"
Furthermore, in the same interview, the Punjabi singer stressed why Ankit Tiwari hasn't been successful in the Hindi film industry, even after delivering constant hits. He said, 'I have never understood why Ankit Tiwari didn't make it big in Bollywood. To date, I still don't understand why he didn't get the opportunity that he deserves. He's an amazing singer—my favourite."
He further added, 'I don't know why he couldn't go further; only God knows. He's one of the best singers out there. The controversy might be one reason, but moving ahead after something like that becomes difficult. He's very talented, and his voice is absolutely beautiful. Songs like Sun Raha Hai Na Tu, Dil Darbadar, and Teri Galliyan—what a voice he has… they were all super hit songs,"
On the work front, Mika Singh is gearing up for the third instalment of the Welcome franchise, Welcome to the Jungle. The film also includes a star-studded ensemble, including Akshay Kumar, Disha Patani, Suniel Shetty, Raveena Tandon, Paresh Rawal, Lara Dutta, Arshad Warsi, Jacqueline Fernandez, Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav and more.
