'Hey Neighbour'! Leon Thomas is coming to rock the festival stage

Grammy Award-winning artist, Leon Thomas, will be performing at the second 'Hey Neighbour' music festival alongside Doja Cat. Image: Supplied. The "Hey Neighbour" music festival is gearing up for a spectacular comeback on August 30 and 31. Earlier this year, festival organisers announced that award-winning artist Doja Cat will be shutting down the neighbourhood, and now, they have added US singer-songwriter Leon Thomas to the spectacular line-up. This will be Doja Cat's first time performing in South Africa, and word on the social media streets suggests that she's coming because her biological actor father, Dumisani Dlamini, is from the country. Renowned for her genre-defying sound, chart-topping hits and captivating stage presence, Doja Cat has taken the music world by storm with smash hits like "Say So", "Kiss Me More", "Paint the Town Red", and "Woman". During an interview with Apple Music's Ebro Darden back in 2024, the superstar said: "I still haven't been (to South Africa). I rely on my career to just throw me out to places. I don't find pockets of time in my life. I can fly, but I don't like flying, especially long flights like that." Meanwhile, Thomas, who is no stranger to the entertainment industry, is set to perform on the festival's second day. Having graced Broadway stages from a young age, Thomas captivated audiences in productions like "The Lion King" and "Caroline, or Change". However, his breakthrough came when he starred as André Harris in Nickelodeon's hit TV show "Victorious", alongside Victoria Justice and Ariana Grande. Beyond this, Thomas has collaborated with numerous major artists and has writing and production credits on multiple Grammy-nominated projects. He's popular for songs like "Yes It Is", "Rather Be Alone" and "Vibes Don't Lie", among others. His work with Babyface and Toni Braxton on the album "Love, Marriage & Divorce" has earned him his first Grammy Award. In 2023, the festival mesmerised over 60 000 music lovers with an extraordinary line-up that featured both local and international stars, including the likes of Tyla, Kendrick Lamar, Zakes Bantwini, Swedish House Mafia, Khalid, and H.E.R. This year, organisers have promised an even bigger and bolder festival. "To spice it up even more, we've taken all the magic of the 2023 fest and combined the previously announced three-day fest into two high-impact, high-energy-filled days of music, culture, and, of course, connection. "Ideally, we, your neighbours, are encouraging you to groove harder, sing louder and create the best, most authentic memories possible," read a statement from the festival. Festival-goers can brace themselves for even more excitement when the local line-up and perhaps a sprinkle of even more international star power is announced in June.

Doja Cat Stuns In Oxford-Inspired Marc Jacobs Kiki Platform Heels on the Met Gala 2025 Red Carpet

Doja Cat served up glamour at the 2025 Met Gala held on Monday in New York. The theme for the evening is 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.' The 'Say So' singer sported an extreme pair of platform Kiki boots from Marc Jacobs. The sky-high style was ankle length and featured black glossy patent leather uppers that transitioned into thin straps that traveled up the length of the shoe, threaded through adjustable buckle closures in silver. The shoe is meant to mimic the look of a preppy Oxford, perfect for the occasion. Marc Jacobs' Kiki silhouette has become a famous one for the brand. The style is usually equipped with block heels, but Doja's differ likely because her pair was custom. The shoe was paired with sheer black nylon tights. The 'You Right' rapper also wore a custom Marc Jacobs look to go with her platforms. Created alongside the designer, Doja's look consisted of a structural blazer made to look like a bodysuit. The waist was nipped, further emphasizing the tailored theme of the night. The front featured cheetah-printed blocking that transitioned into structural shoulders and sparkling silver pinstriping. The 2025 Met Gala is being held tonight in New York. The theme, 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,' celebrates all things African American styles and culture. This year's co-chairs include Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky and Pharrell Williams, along with Vogue's Editor In Chief Anna Wintour. The gala gathers top stars from all walks of life, celebrating the arts and fashion for one night each year on the first Monday in May. The singer's shoe pick is grungy and edgy, on par with her style choices both on and off the stage. Doja loves Christian Louboutin, Aldo, Jimmy Choo, Miu Miu, Tony Bianco, Alexander McQueen and Prada. Doja Cat teases '70's and '80s-inspired album with 'modern twists'

Doja Cat's new album 'Vie' will "fully encapsulate" the '70s and '80s - with some "modern twists". The 'Say So' hitmaker is expected to release the follow-up to 2023's 'Scarlet' sometime this year and she has shared snippets of what fans can expect. Speaking on Los Angeles' 102.7 KIIS FM radio station recently, she said: 'I'm really punching my foot through the wall into that situation. I want to really fully encapsulate that time and still give it some modern twists here and there.' In November, the 'Paint The Town Red' hitmaker took to X to share the names of 13 songs from the album. She highlighted five of the songs - 'Cards', 'Acts Of Service', 'Make It Up', 'Did I Lie' and 'Crack' - as her "favourite". Doja later noted: "Songs are in no particular order. Starred my favorites. (sic)' However, she later deleted the post. In September, the 29-year-old rapper and singer declared that she doesn't want to write hits just to "protect her pockets". Doja admitted she has done songs in the past just to be popular, and said she wanted to experiment with the eclectic mix of genres that she loves, including jazz, neo soul, indie and rock music. In an interview conducted by singer Jack Harlow for Present Space, Doja said: "I really love jazz music, and I love neo soul, and different kinds of rock music and indie and experimental music. That stuff tends to get pushed to the side by the general populace, and I didn't see it in the past for me, so I did the thing that I knew would stick. Now, I feel like I can take those elements that I have from the music that sticks and put it into this soup of different genres that I really love and enjoy and respect, and make something new with it. That's what I've always loved to do, is swirl a lot of different sounds together, but really in the future, I want to start going in a different direction sonically that isn't supposed to just protect my pockets necessarily, and isn't just supposed to woo the younger fans or the people who only want to hear sexual themes or self-medication or stuff like that. There's so much to life and it's been a pattern of writing about those things for me, but now I want to stretch the canvas." The star stepped away from her conventional pop style on 'Scarlet', focusing on hip-hop and R'n'B.

Doja Cat Stars In Flirty Marc Jacobs 'Staycation' Summer Campaign, Previews New Music

When Doja Cat isn't busy ruling charts and stages with her music, she's trendsetting with her fashion prowess. The pop-rap superstar is the newly announced face of Marc Jacobs' Summer 2025 campaign, which focuses on all the little luxuries of a staycation of your dreams. The Pre-Fall '25 campaign marks the debut of the brand's latest Dual bag collection and features an exclusive first preview of Doja Cat's unreleased song 'Jealous Type.' The bubbly, feel-good record soundtracks the flirty campaign video, which sees Doja frolicking around the NYC streets and treating the concrete jungle like her own personal spa resort. Switching from cucumber eye patches, to glamorous shades and heels, the 'Say So' singer walks to the beat of her own drum and even winds up dancing on top of a yellow taxi while a fire hydrant sprays her. Watch the visual and listen to the song snippet below. 'Fashion meets music in a campaign made for summer,' the brands caption reads. 'Marc Jacobs and Doja Cat team up for STAYCATION, the 2025 Summer Campaign merging bold style and a fresh sound. Featuring the latest Dual bags and an exclusive sneak-peek at Doja Cat's unreleased track 'Jealous Type' off her forthcoming album, this is your invitation to turn up the volume – no travel required.' 'Being on vacation isn't about where you go,' said Doja Cat via press release. 'It's about how you show up — whether you're just enjoying the city or soaking up the sun at the beach. This Marc Jacobs campaign is about living life and serving looks. It couldn't be a more perfect stage to preview my new music, where retro glam meets a little soul.' The campaign was photographed by Stef Mitchell, styled by Sydney Rose Thomas, with video by Christian Breslauer. The Pre-Fall 2025 collection is available now at Marc Jacobs boutiques globally, online at and at select luxury retailers. 'Jealous Type' is set to appear on the 29-year-old's forthcoming album. Her last body of work was 2024's Scarlet 2 CLAUDE, a deluxe version of her 2023 project of the same name. Scarlet boasted smash hits like 'Paint The Town Red,' 'Angora Hills,' and 'Attention.' Back in November 2024, she teased fans by revealing a potential tracklist on social media, simply tweeting, 'Album' with a screenshot of 13 song titles. Doja Cat Is on the Prowl in Leopard Print Skirt Suit at Balmain's Fall 2025 Paris Fashion Show

Doja Cat continued her Balmain leopard print streak at the label's fall 2025 fashion show in Paris on Wednesday. The rapper wore a skirt suit designed by Balmain's creative director, Olivier Rousteing, accessorizing with gold diamond-encrusted Messika jewels and Christian Louboutin heels. Doja currently works with stylist Brett Alan Nelson, who also counts Tate McRae and Karol G as clients. At the 2025 Oscars on Sunday, Doja also donned a Balmain leopard print design. Her strapless couture gown was decorated with beads and came with a thin scarf. Alongside Lisa and Raye, the Grammy winner performed as part of a James Bond tribute during the ceremony. Doja was hardly the only star to model metallics at the Oscars, with Demi Moore, Halle Berry and Emma Stone, among others, favoring shades of gold and silver in designs by Armani, Christian Siriano and Louis Vuitton. Balmain's latest presentation also played up animal prints, particularly zebra — a pattern used by the label's founder, Pierre Balmain. Rousteing has a history with exotic textiles, having incorporated leopard spots in several Balmain collections. Per WWD's Miles Socha, Rousteing's fall 2025 collection marked a departure from his typically sharp, formfitting silhouettes. The French designer became Balmain's creative director in 2011. 'I would say this collection is about cocooning,' Rousteing said backstage. 'There's a softness that I'm really proud of…. For me, it's the beginning of a new era.'
