Saudi FM meets with Omani counterpart in Jebel Akhdar region

RIYAIDH: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan met with his Omani counterpart Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi in the Jebel Akhdar region of Oman on Monday. Prince Faisal is on an official visit to the country and reviewed Saudi-Omani relations and ways to strengthen them in various fields with Al-Busaidi, the Saudi Press Agency reported. The latest regional and international developments and efforts made with regard to them were also discussed. The two ministers also visited the Rub Al-Khali border crossing linking the Kingdom and Oman. They were briefed on the crossing's modern facilities, including passenger processing lounges and logistical and administrative facilities to facilitate transit traffic. These facilities aim to promote visits, trade exchange, and ease movement between the two countries, SPA said.

Oman participates in OIC Extraordinary Meeting in Jeddah

Jeddah: Oman participated in the extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The meeting discussed the ongoing Israeli aggression in the occupied Palestinian territories. H.E. Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, who headed the Omani delegation, reiterated Oman's firm stance in support of implementing the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, the complete Israeli withdrawal, the return of displaced persons, and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to all areas of Gaza. He warned against any attempts to displace Palestinians or violate their rights. H.E. also reaffirmed Oman's support for the efforts of OIC member states to confront Israeli aggression, emphasizing the need for an effective international mechanism to stop violations, protect civilians, lift the siege on Gaza, and hold Israeli officials accountable for committed crimes. The extraordinary meeting of the OIC was chaired by H.E. Lejeune Mbella Mbella, Minister of External Relations of Cameroon and the current Chairman of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, with the participation of several foreign ministers. Attendees from Oman included H.E. Ambassador Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel Al-Maskari, Head of the Gulf Cooperation Council and Regional Neighbors Department, and Minister Plenipotentiary Salem bin Mohammed Al-Busaidi, Consul General of Oman and Deputy Permanent Representative to the OIC in Jeddah, along with other Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials. H.E. Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi met with H.E. Dr. Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on the sidelines of the extraordinary OIC meeting in Jeddah. The discussion covered bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, ways to enhance mutual cooperation, and exchanged views on the rapidly evolving regional and international developments. They emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomatic efforts to find peaceful and just solutions to various conflicts and disputes, and to enhance opportunities for security, stability, and peace for all. H.E. Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi also met with H.E. Bakhtiyor Saidov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, to exchange views and consult on several regional and international developments. The two ministers discussed aspects of diplomatic cooperation between their countries, confirming their commitment to continuing support and development of overall economic and investment partnership relations, along with cultural and scientific cooperation programs.

Jeddah: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi, Foreign Minister reiterated Oman's firm stance in support of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
