Arab Economic Summit discusses food security
BAGHDAD: HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, headed the Sultanate of Oman's delegation to the Fifth Arab Economic and Social Development Summit, which began on Saturday in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad with the participation of a number of heads of states and governments. The summit discussed the Arab food security file, developments in the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA) and the completion of requirements for establishing the Arab Customs Union. The summit also discussed the executive plan for the Arab Water Security Strategy in the Arab region to address future challenges and requirements for sustainable development. The summit also reviewed the strategic framework and executive action plan for the Regional Programme for the Economic and Social Empowerment of Arab Women, among other issues. The Sultanate of Oman's delegation accompanying HH Sayyid Shihab comprises: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister; Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed al Saeedi, Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs; Dr Said bin Mohammed al Saqri, Minister of Economy; Abdullah bin Nassir al Rahbi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Egypt and its Permanent Representative to the Arab League and the Charge D'affaires of Oman's Embassy in Iraq. — ONA

Sayyid Shihab arrives in Iraq for Arab Summit
BAGHDAD: HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, arrived in the Republic of Iraq on Friday evening, to lead the Sultanate of Oman's delegation at the 34th Arab Summit and the Fifth Arab Economic and Social Development Summit. HH Sayyid Shihab and his accompanying delegation were received at Baghdad International Airport by Fuad Hussein, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, Dr Hamid al Ghazi, Secretary-General of the Iraqi Council of Ministers, Qais Saad al Amri, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the Sultanate of Oman, Abdullah bin Nassir al Rahbi, Ambassador of Oman to Egypt and its Permanent Representative to the Arab League, the Charge D'affaires of Oman's Embassy in Iraq, some members of the embassy; and a number of Iraqi officials. — ONA

Sayyid Shihab to lead Oman's delegation to Arab summits in Baghdad
Muscat – H H Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, will lead the Sultanate of Oman's delegation to the 34th Arab Summit and the 5th Arab Economic and Social Development Summit in Baghdad on Saturday, on behalf of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. H H Sayyid Shihab will depart for Iraq tomorrow, accompanied by a senior official delegation comprising of Sayyid Badr al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, Dr Abdullah Mohammed al Sa'eedi, Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs, H E Dr Said bin Mohammed al Saqri, Minister of Economy, and H E Abdullah bin Nasser al Rahbi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Arab Republic of Egypt and permanent representative to the League of Arab States. who also serves as Chargé d'Affaires of the Omani Embassy in the Republic of Iraq. The two summits will bring together Arab leaders and representatives to discuss regional political developments, economic integration, and social advancement. Oman's participation reflects its steadfast commitment to dialogue, cooperation and joint action in addressing challenges and promoting stability across the Arab world.

Sayyid Shihab inaugurates Olympic Shooting Complex
Muscat – H H Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, inaugurated the National Olympic Shooting Complex in Muscat on Monday. Built to International Shooting Sport Federation standards, the facility is designed to support athletes at all levels, from beginners to professionals, providing a comprehensive environment for training and competition. The complex, spanning multiple purpose-built structures, marks a significant milestone in Oman's sporting journey, enhancing its capacity to host official shooting championships and elevating the country's profile in regional and global sports. The facility includes three Olympic-standard shooting ranges: a 10m range covering 2,700sqm with 80 targets for 80 shooters, a 25m range spanning 2,900sqm with 50 targets for 50 shooters, and a 50m range measuring 2,600sqm, also with 80 targets for 80 shooters. It also features a broadcasting room for digital and visual coverage of events. Additionally, the complex houses a specialised 1,600sqm hall designed to accommodate ten shooters in a controlled indoor environment, ensuring maximum concentration and accuracy. Spectator stands are available across all shooting areas.
