Dan Scarr on Wrexham's three successive promotions

The Reds - owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney - have completed the hat-trick, climbing from the National League to the Championship under Phil Parkinson. The latest promotion came when Wrexham finished runners-up in League One this season behind title winners Birmingham City to put the north Wales club back in the second tier for the first time in 43 years. Scarr, brought in from Plymouth Argyle last summer, says all the players and staff should be proud of what they have done and the centre-back can't see any other club achieving the feat. "That is done now, that is cemented in history," said the 30-year-old. DID YOU MISS OUR 48-PAGE PROMOTION SPECIAL? ORDER YOUR COPY HERE - "I can't see that being topped to be honest. "The gaffer has done unbelievably well with the lads and the staff to get that done, it is a massive achievement and the club should be proud of it." Wrexham were among the leaders all season and Parkinson's men secured a top-two finish with a game to go after beating promotion rivals Charlton Athletic 3-0 at The Racecourse. Despite the Reds making the step-up from League Two, and coming up against some big clubs in a competitive division, Scarr insists promotion was always the aim. "It's been a brilliant season for the club," said the defender. "The lads are really happy and I am sure the fans are buzzing. "It's what we set out to do at the start of the season and we ending up getting it done so I am buzzing. "It is easier said that done. There were a lot of other good teams in the division this season and obviously you have got a team like Birmingham spending a lot of money but we've done what we set out to do." Scarr had to bide his time following his switch from Plymouth and made his first league start in the 1-0 defeat at Stevenage on October 1. Although he then enjoyed a run in the side, Eoghan O'Connell reclaimed his spot and made more starts as the middle centre-back throughout the campaign than Scarr who never let it get him down. "It is what it is," said Scarr, who made 14 league appearances in total this term. "I knew there were a lot of good players in the team and it was just a case of waiting for your chance to get in. "Eoghan has been unbelievable this season and we were winning so there was no need to change what we were doing. "I just had to be ready for whenever I was needed." O'Connell picked up an injury during the run-in and Scarr once again proved his worth when he started the last three games. He helped Wrexham beat Blackpool 2-1 to set-up the victory against Charlton which secured promotion before once again lining up in the team for the 2-0 final-day success at Lincoln City. "I was happy with myself and how I played," he added. "I was just buzzing to be out there and do it. It was enjoyable to be a part of it at the end."

First Look at the Scarr's Pizza x Nike Air Force 1 Low in Black

Summary Scarr's PizzaandNikefirst joined forces for an ultra-limitedAir Force 1 Lowin 2019, and now they're back for a second slice: Scarr's Pizza founder Scarr Pimentel was spotted in an all-black iteration of the collab over the weekend. Besides switching out the white leather base of the inaugural collab for a crisp black leather build, a good portion of the details remain unchanged as there's still a dual-layered Swoosh, an embroidered logo hit on the lateral heel, the pizzeria's phone number on the lateral forefoot, a tri-colored Air hit on the midsole, and a gum outsole. But keen-eyed observers will note a few changes as well, including an updated address detail on the tongue — Scarr's relocated from 22 Orchard to 35 Orchard in 2023 — an altered, tonal New York City flag on the heel tab that's done up in patent leather, and a darker shade of gum used on the aforementioned outsole. There's currently no word on if this style will see any sort of retail release, but if it follows the model set by the original colorway, it'll be an ultra-limited friends and family colorway. The first Scarr's Pizza x Nike Air Force 1 low collab was only produced in a run of 48 pairs, one of whichsold for a staggering $121,649at a Sotheby's auction in 2021. Scarr's has only deepened its relationship with Nike andJordan Brandsince then as well, including hosting an early launch of theAir Jordan 3 'Black Cement'in November 2024 that Jordan Brand athlete and New York Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr attended. Rumors have long been circulating about the original collaboration potentially seeing amass-market release in 2025, but this has yet to be confirmed.

Wayne Rooney's true colours shine through as ex-Plymouth defender opens up on his management

Wayne Rooney has come under fire for his part in Plymouth Argyle's likely relegation from the Championship, but an ex-player has painted a different picture of the Man Utd legend A defender who was at Plymouth Argyle under Wayne Rooney has shone a light on his true nature. The Manchester United legend has come under fire from his successor Milon Muslic this week as the Pilgrims are facing the prospect of relegation from the Championship. The former England striker took the reins at Argyle last May, but had a tough spell in charge, lasting just 23 games. Rooney was relieved of his duties on New Year's Eve after registering only four wins in the league and suffering 13 defeats. ‌ Bosnian-born Austrian coach Muslic was chosen to replace him in January and has won eight and drawn five of his 22 matches at the helm. Despite his efforts, Argyle sit rock bottom of the second tier, three points off safety, with two games left to play. And Muslic believes their problems could have been avoided entirely if he was appointed earlier. "I think if I'm the head coach from day one we will be far, far away from the relegation zone, we will be safe five games ago," he said after his side's 3-1 victory over Coventry City on Monday. However, while you could be forgiven for thinking this would make Rooney unpopular with the Argyle team, that appears to be far from the case. One former player who has spoken favourably about the 39-year-old is defender Dan Scarr. Scarr only spent a few months with Rooney before being sold to League One high flyers Wrexham for an undisclosed fee last August. But he was full of praise for his down to earth nature after commending how he handled his departure. ‌ "He was unbelievable and I really can't speak more highly of him," Scarr told The Leader. "He came in earlier this year and he's so down to earth and gave me all his support. "He knew I was interested in a move to Wrexham and he told me that he was never going to stand in my way even though he wanted me to stay. There was no nastiness whatsoever and that made things much easier." ‌ The 30-year-old isn't alone in his thoughts on Rooney either, with Plymouth midfielder Adam Randell also giving glowing feedback on his manager earlier in the season. "There are times I will find myself saying 'Oh my God!' when he does something in training," Randell told the Mail. "It's all surreal. I never thought that he would come down here but now he is here, I want to learn as much as I can from him. "There are times he will drop a name or tell a story from his career and you realise the level he was at. He's so into the tactical side of things and he is more than happy to have a conversation with you. He's so approachable." ‌ Meanwhile, Scarr's respect for Rooney appears to have been mutual. Speaking about the defender at the time of his departure from Argyle, Rooney said: "For Dan it was a good opportunity for him, for his family as well. We had a good chat about it and I think sometimes the time is right for both parties. "I think he's been a really good servant to the club, but the time was right for him and maybe for the club as well, and now it's an opportunity for us to bring someone else in." ‌ Scarr was a popular figure at Argyle, making more than 100 appearances during his three years with the club. He was part of the Pilgrims team that won the League One title in 2023. He was widely expected to be a regular for Wrexham this season, but has found game time hard to come by, making just ten starts in the league. However, an injury to first choice centre back Eoghan O'Connell saw him selected to play in the Red Dragons' 2-1 win away at Blackpool on Monday. The result saw Wrexham, owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, jump back up to second in the table. Scarr received plaudits for his performance from manager Phil Parkinson as the Welsh side moved closer to an astonishing third successive promotion. Speaking ahead of his team's crucial clash against Charlton on Saturday, Parkinson said: "We've got to make sure the standard of training is high, because look at Dan Scarr. He hasn't played for a long he came in and played brilliantly against Blackpool."
