NDMC approves welfare infrastructure, healthcare proposals in council meeting

New Delhi: New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) held its second council meeting on Thursday, during which key proposals related to infrastructure, employee welfare, and healthcare services were approved. One of the major welfare decisions included the regularisation of Type-I and Type-II municipal quarters allotted in the names of spouses or wards of former NDMC employees. This applies in cases where the original allottee has retired or passed away, and the applicant—though filing after the permissible period—is a regular NDMC employee. The council approved a one-time policy relaxation, including a waiver of pending dues for such cases. NDMC chairman Parvesh Verma said penalties imposed on families who overstayed by more than two years will also be waived. Citing a specific case where a family faced a penalty of Rs 24 lakh, he said the full amount had been written off. "This is not just about housing; it is about honouring families who served NDMC for years. It is our responsibility to stand by them," Verma said, adding that in cases where legal proceedings are underway, NDMC will move to withdraw them. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Memperdagangkan CFD Emas dengan salah satu spread terendah? The move aims to address recurring faults caused by cables over 35 years old. Verma directed officials to prioritise replacing all such outdated infrastructure to enhance reliability. In a significant decision for healthcare workers, the council approved the Hospital Patient Care Allowance (HPCA) and conveyance allowance for doctors working in NDMC hospitals, dispensaries, and the health and malaria departments. These benefits will be granted with retrospective effect from July 1, 2017. A resolution was also passed to extend conveyance allowances to specialist and general duty medical officers. Describing the decision as a long-overdue move, officials said it reflects NDMC's commitment to recognising the contribution of frontline health workers.
