OKC Metro HSSA: Stillwater gets 3 straight pins to clinch insane state wrestling title
There was only one way Stillwater could still win the Oklahoma Class 6A dual state championship on Saturday against Edmond North.
It needed three straight pins to finish out the match.
Trailing 32-15, Stillwater finished its comeback story. Jakoby Petree (175 pounds), LaDarion Lockett (190) and Ethan Teague (215) each pinned their opponents for 18 points and an amazing 33-32 victory for the state title.
According to The Oklahoman's Nick Sardis, it is Stillwater's fourth state title. It entered as the No. 2 ranked team in the state, while Edmond North was ranked No. 1 and was the defending state champion.
Lockett, an Oklahoma State recruit, was the OKC Metro High School Sports Awards Boys Wrestler of the Year last season.
The 2024-25 OKC Metro High School Sports Awards are June 10 at the Young Family Athletic Center in Norman.
