Man appears in court in connection with abduction and assault after woman and baby injured

Police, including firearms officers and a K9 unit, were called to St Leonard's Street in the capital at around 9am on Saturday. A man has appeared in court charged with abduction and assault after a woman and baby were taken to hospital following a disturbance in Edinburgh. Police, including firearms officers and a K9 unit, were called to St Leonard's Street in the capital after the alarm was raised at around 9am on Saturday. ‌ The street was cordoned off as multiple emergency vehicles swarmed the scene, with a residential building evacuated as a precaution. ‌ Police later confirmed that a 46-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident. Scott Bradbury appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday charged with abduction and assault to injury, as well as two counts of threatening or abusive behaviour. He also faced another charge of abduction, as well as racially aggravated harassment, two counts of assault, and breach of the peace. Bradbury was committed for further examination and remanded in custody. He is due to appear again within the next eight days. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! A 38-year-old woman and a baby were taken to hospital following the incident and the street was closed at the junction of St Leonard's Place and Lutton Place, with officers seen patrolling the area on foot. ‌ Images from the scene showed an officer guarding the cordon at one end of the street, with a police car blocking the opposite end. Around eight emergency vehicles, including an ambulance and what appeared to be an incident response unit van, were also present. The majority lined the street outside a block of flats on one side. Eyewitnesses earlier reported seeing "riot police" in the street before local residents were evacuated from their homes.
