EAGLE COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) – A routine traffic stop on U.S. Interstate 70 ended with law enforcement finding over 100 pounds of cocaine. Around 9:50 a.m., Tuesday, a Gore Range All Narcotics Interdiction Task Force (GRANITE) detective pulled over a vehicle not staying in its lane near mile marker 140. During the stop, the driver allegedly made statements that created 'suspicions of further criminal activity,' according to the Eagle County Sheriff's Office. A trained narcotics detection dog was brought in to inspect the car. The K9 signaled that potential drugs were in the vehicle which led to a search. Forty-four individually wrapped packages of potential cocaine were found, weighing 111 pounds. 34-year-old Scott Douglas Robinson of Ontario, Canada, was taken into custody and transported to the Eagle County Detention Facility. He is being held on a $1 million. Robinson is charged with unlawful distribution and possession of a controlled substance, special offender and conspiracy. All charges are class 1 drug felonies. DENVER (KDVR) — A traffic stop led law enforcement to the discovery of 111 lbs. of cocaine hidden in a car driving on Interstate 70 on Tuesday. The Eagle County Sheriff's Office said it started just before 10 a.m. when a detective with the Gore Range All Narcotics Interdiction Task Force pulled over a vehicle for not staying in its lane on eastbound Interstate 70 near mile marker 140. Multiple agencies work to capture eluding, armed suspects in stolen vehicle The driver was given a warning, but the sheriff's office said he made statements that 'raised suspicions fo further criminal activity,' so a trained narcotics detection dog was brought in to inspect the vehicle. The K-9 signaled that drugs might be present, leading to a search in which 44 individually wrapped packages were found hidden in the vehicle. The substance in the packages tested presumptively positive for cocaine. The driver was identified by the sheriff's office as Scott Douglas Robinson, 34, of Ontario, Canada. He was taken to the Eagle County Detention Facility, where he is being held on a $1,000,000 bond and is facing charges of: Unlawful distribution of a controlled substance (cocaine) – Class 1 drug felony Unlawful possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) – Class 1 drug felony Special offender (cocaine) – Class 1 drug felony Conspiracy – Class 1 drug felony Anyone with information about the suspect or the crime is asked to call the Eagle County Sheriff's Office at 970-328-8500.
