Prince William and Kate 'under growing pressure as they frustrate palace staff'

Prince William and Kate Middleton are the two most popular royals amongst the public, but it seems that behind closed doors, palace staff may be growing frustrated with them Prince William and Kate Middleton may be the monarchy's future, but it's reported that Palace staff are becoming increasingly frustrated with their insistence on doing things their own way. The Prince and Princess of Wales are the two most popular royals among the public. However, behind closed doors, things may not be running as smoothly. The Scottish Express has previously reported on the couple's apparent reluctance towards official duties. ‌ While it was understandable for William to step back in 2024 when Kate was undergoing cancer treatment, there were already whispers of her being dubbed a part-time Royal by staff, even before her health scare. ‌ It was also noted that William managed to find time for his personal interests, such as travelling to Germany for the Euros and South Africa for his Earthshot Prize. Kate, 43, is gradually returning to her duties, but she remains committed to being a hands-on mother to their children Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7. Meanwhile, William, 42, had to be instructed by his father, the King, to attend Pope Francis' funeral. According to Camilla Tominey, associate editor of The Telegraph, William and Kate are "under growing pressure to up their workload". There are said to be concerns amongst aides that the couple "may be spending too much time with their immediate family instead of supporting the 'Firm'." Camilla went on to suggest that prospects for a reconciliation between Prince William and his brother Prince Harry appear dim. Harry, aged 40, moved to California in 2020 and has caused tension with a series of critical remarks about the monarchy and disclosures of Royal secrets in his memoir 'Spare'. ‌ Central to this rift was a claim that William had a confrontation with him over Meghan Markle, who is now 43. Although perceptions paint William as a major barrier to Harry rekindling ties with King Charles, Camilla observes that the heir has cooled on this topic, but this change in stance seems unlikely to lead to a reunion. Camilla speculated that repairing the bond with Harry is "low down their list of priorities". With friends claiming William is "no longer as angry as he was," the current sentiment establishes there is "no way back" for Harry, with the consensus being – "prevailing attitude is - let sleeping dogs lie". Recently, Prince William has been proactive on environmental issues, calling on global leaders to "think big" when it comes to ocean protection. Delivering a speech at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum (BEFF) in Monaco after his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, he spoke out on ocean conservation at the Grimaldi Forum. Addressing the attendees, William said: "Rising sea temperatures, plastic pollution and overfishing are putting pressure on these fragile ecosystems and on the people and communities who depend most upon them. "What once seemed an abundant resource is diminishing before our eyes. We all stand to be impacted. And we are all responsible for change – both negative and positive. But there remains time to turn this tide."

ITV's Lorraine Kelly 'more hassle than she's worth' to bosses as show slashed back

The Scottish TV presenter has faced backlash for the mounting number of her own shows she has been missing, with ITV bosses reportedly 'favouring' Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid. Lorraine Kelly's popular breakfast programme has faced large criticism, with the show reportedly "more hassle than it's worth" according to ITV insiders. It comes as bosses are reportedly appearing to be on the edge of giving it the chop completely. It was confirmed on Tuesday that Lorraine's flagship programme would slashed from being on 52 weeks of the year to just 30. The running time will be cut to only 30 minutes, instead of the hour, as reported by the Scottish Express. ‌ Glasgow-born Lorraine, 65, has fronted her show on the platform since 2010 and been a firm TV favourite for over 40 years. However her crown as the queen of the small screen could reportedly be slipping, with her increasingly absent from being in the presenter's chair. ‌ According to the reports, she is reported to have presented less than 60 per cent of editions of Lorraine in the past 18 months, with her constant absences often mocked online by viewers. Some of her co-stars such as Christine Lampard and Ranvir Singh have stepped into the presenters chair, but sources say bosses are often left scrambling around to find a replacement, reports the Mail. One source said: "She had a show named for her which has been going for 15 years but it actually became more hassle than it was worth to keep having to sort out cover for her. Thankfully Christine and Ranvir love doing it and would often be available at short notice. "In fact, if Christine would ever take on the role full-time then maybe it would save the slot but she just doesn't want to. So we are left with a situation which in the end wasn't a great look for Lorraine. "She's the grande dame of ITV, or perhaps she thought she was. She used to rule that show with an iron fist and what she said went, but recently she hasn't been there." ‌ On the other hand, this is reportedly a very different story for how bosses feel towards Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid who rarely misses a show. According to the insider, it is no coincidence that GMB has been extended by 30 minutes to fill the gap left by the Lorraine show cuts - and an hour when the Lorraine show is not on, with Reid, 54, offered more screen time. They added: "Susanna is the favoured one. The bosses are besotted with her and they wanted to give her more and more. At the same time it was increasingly obvious that Lorraine wasn't there." ‌ Lorraine, who became a grandmother last year to granddaughter Billie, presented her show as normal on Wednesday amid speculation she could walk away completely. She recently took some time off after undergoing preventative surgery. She has previously referenced the social media account that recorded the absences from the show. Describing it as "hurtful", she added: "I'm a grafter and I work really hard and I've had to take Fridays off for the past year. "I just thought it was weird to care so much." In response, the Twitter account, @LorraineKWatch, stopped recording her appearances, saying the "joke has run its course" and apologising.

Why would any woman work for the NHS after this nurse's experience?

An employment tribunal in Fife will not be uppermost in many people's minds but the case involving the treatment of a nurse called Sandie Peggie has become totemic. It represents the apotheosis of the gender madness that has overtaken our institutions, particularly in Scotland. Do you remember the case of the Darlington nurses last year who did not want to share a changing room with a transwoman? They felt 'unsafe'. That particular transwoman 'Rose' was not taking any hormones and was in fact trying to get his girlfriend pregnant. This is where terminology gets difficult. 'Rose' is simply a man identifying as female. Wes Streeting, the Health Secretary, met the nurses and said clearly that they needed single-sex spaces. The great majority of us understand that need and – especially for nurses in the workplace – it seems to be a basic requirement. Yet to say this in Scotland is to risk losing your job. Sandie Peggie has been a nurse for 30 years in Kirkcaldy. Her record is unblemished. She is the sort of person our NHS absolutely relies on; a woman with decades of experience, who gets on uncomplainingly with a vital job. Until she did dare complain when she was forced to share a changing room with Dr Beth Upton. This person was a man until 2022 but now they are a 'transwoman' and therefore all around are expected to accept this even though Upton remains biologically male. I am aware, as I write this, that the Scottish Express has been reported to the police for describing Dr Upton as a man. This is the ludicrous situation we find ourselves in. Well, bring it on. Peggie had to change when experiencing menstrual flooding and felt uneasy about getting undressed in front of Upton. She expressed how uncomfortable it made her, also revealing a sexual assault in her past. Upton may declare himself a woman but dealing with a heavy period is something he will never experience is it? This whole issue of single-sex spaces rests on the fact that women need privacy and safety away from men who, whatever they feel themselves to be, just do not experience the tribulations of womanhood. This is a simple fact that cannot be dismissed by the biology-deniers – including Upton, who, as a health professional should damn well know better. Peggie then found that she was suspended in January 2024 after Upton made allegations of bullying and harassment. She returned to work a few months later 'under investigation' so she lodged a complaint of 'Sexual harassment or harassment related to a protected belief under Section 26 of the Equality Act 2010' regarding three incidents when they shared a changing room: indirect harassment, victimisation and whistleblowing. This has resulted in an employment tribunal. All of this costs thousands of pounds of taxpayers' money – NHS Fife will not reveal the figures by the way – but money which would surely be better off spent on I don't know? Treating patients? At the tribunal we learnt some astonishing things. One could see this was a case about class, medical hierarchies and straightforward male entitlement. Peggie has stood up to Upton who has apparently 'never been spoken to like this before'. Really doctor? What a sheltered life you must have enjoyed. Even more astonishing was that we had to listen to Upton, a qualified doctor, saying: 'I am biologically female' and that 'biological sex is a nebulous term and doesn't really mean anything …nobody can actually define biological sex'. Every woman I know was WhatsApp-ing each other. 'Just don't get ill in Fife!' Such gender woo is bad enough, but Upton has the support of a load of muddled managers. Even worse, there were suddenly accusations that Peggie had compromised patient safety by refusing to work alongside him. This is a serious allegation to make against someone who has nursed for 30 years. Now we find that, in advance of the tribunal result in July, Peggie has to attend a conduct hearing on Friday which may lead to her dismissal. Who is the bully here? This is prejudging the outcome of the tribunal and an attempt to hide NHS Fife's own screw-ups. They clearly want to get her out of the way. Lawyers are rubbing their hands at how much this is all going to cost but why is this even happening? It is the result of Scotland's uptake – steered by former first minister Nicola Sturgeon – of extreme gender ideology, and Scots politicians look like cowardly fools for standing by and letting this nurse be treated like this. You can, of course, want trans people to be given respect, but if your policies result in rapists in women's prisons and nurses treated as pariahs because they don't want to share changing rooms with male-bodied people, where are your basic priorities? So programmed are these dim ideologues, they must always see trans people as victims and so now they end up siding with the bully. We can all see that, except of course the unions who have also signed up to this nonsense and are now wondering why fewer women are joining them. The NHS depends on, but does not value, women like Peggie. The board of NHS Fife and its political enablers are a disgrace. They are wasting huge amounts of money trying to uphold a belief system that is fast becoming discredited. Are female nurses entitled to single-sex spaces in which to change? If your answer to that is 'No' or 'Yes, but…' then you are beyond help. Medical or any other kind.
