Scouting Boston honors environmental, energy leaders at 128 Good Scout Awards
Scouting Boston recently honored two leaders in the environmental, engineering and energy fields at their annual Good Scout Awards Luncheon. The youth development organization honored Catherine Finneran, vice president of Transmission Project Development, Siting and Project Services at Eversource, and Arthur Mabbett, chairman and CEO of Mabbett & Associates, Inc., a leading environmental engineering firm. Scouting Boston's 128 Good Scout Awards Luncheon honors exceptional leaders along the Route 128 corridor who embody the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law, making a lasting impact on their communities through service, leadership, innovation, and integrity. The honorees' backgrounds represent Scouting Boston's dedication to providing hands-on learning opportunities that inspire youth and equip them with skills to pursue careers in STEM professions. 'Catherine and Arthur are role models for our Scouts in every sense of the word,' Scouting Boston CEO & Scout Executive John Judge said. This is a developing story. Area Boy Scouts take part in effort that raised over 61K pounds of food
Mar. 25—Area scouts recently took part in the annual Scouting for Food effort with Austin scouts pulling in a total of 2,075 pounds of food. In total Scouts from across south central Minnesota collected 61,038 pounds of food for 21 local food pantries this past weekend. Approximately 1,100 Scouts, leaders, and parents put in over 3,000 service hours while conducting this annual service project. Along with Austin, Adams Scouts raised a total of 4,145 pounds of food for the effort while Lyle added 363 pounds of food. Since the early 1980s, Scouts have conducted this annual Good Turn not only to help those in need, but also to teach Scouts about service to others. Do a Good Turn Daily is the Scout slogan: "Help other people at all times" is part of the Scout Oath; and "A Scout is Helpful" is one of the 12 points of the Scout Law. This annual project is just one of the ways Scouting helps instill these values in young people. Scouting America, Twin Valley Council serves 15 counties in south central Minnesota. Scouts from across the region took part in this important project that helps those with food insecurity in our communities.

Boy Scouts host food drive for High Falls District
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts in Rochester's High Falls District area will be helping to feed the hungry in Rochester, Brighton, and Irondequoit on Saturday. Scouts from 15 different troops and packs have been collecting food in recent months, and all of the food will be brought to St. John the Evangelist Church on Humboldt Street in Rochester from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Scouts will be sorting and distributing food collected as part of the Scouting for Food drive in local communities. Those participating are Loop Ministries, Asbury First`s Grocery Bag Ministry, the Community Food Cupboard of Rochester, Irondequoit Community Cupboard, and Brighton Food Cupboard. Food pantries will select the food needed for their communities from 1-2 p.m. The High Falls District includes all units in the City of Rochester, Town of Irondequoit, and the Brighton Central School District. Scouting for Food is a way to give back to the communities in which they live and attend school. Organizers say our local food pantries need support, and all scouts strive to help others as part of the Scout Oath and Scout Law the core values of Scouting America. According to Foodlink, nearly 150,000 families in its service area face food insecurity, meaning they have limited or uncertain access to enough healthy food.
