The incident was caught on video, as a diver held an underwater camera in the turquoise water. In the video, which was posted on Monday, a shark approaches the diver as she swims around, minding her business. The camera zooms out as the shark makes a beeline for the camera. The diver starts screaming as a few more sharks approach her. Dean Cropp, the friend and diving partner, holds the camera steady as the sharks circle the pair for a few moments. Video: Shark Nearly Swallows Diver's Camera During Jaw-dropping Encounter Cropp said in an Instagram post that the more his friend splashed around, the more excited the sharks got, thinking the camera was a fresh catch of food. "These Sharks actually think that she is a big predator and all the splashing means she has caught dinner," his post said. Cropp grabbed his friend's hand, inviting her to hold onto him while the sharks linger. He keeps his eye on the sharks swimming below them as his friend sticks to him. SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Border Patrol agents apprehended 9 people suspected of being in the United States without documents after a boat washed ashore a San Diego beach and people were seen running from it early Sunday morning. The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Sea Otter crew reported seeing a 24-foot cuddy cabin-style boat near Windansea Beach in La Jolla around 5 a.m. Sunday that washed ashore and observed multiple people leave the boat and run towards the intersection of Coast Boulevard and Prospect Street. Coast Guard stops illegally chartered 'pleasure craft' in San Diego U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Imperial Beach Station responded and apprehended a total of nine undocumented people. SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The search for a man who went missing while kayaking near Mission Bay has been suspended, according to an update from the U.S. Coast Guard Monday morning. The Coast Guard stated in a news release that crews suspended their search around 5:30 p.m. Sunday after surveilling a nearly 460-square-mile area over 52 hours without success. Photos: Crews pull first pieces of crashed Navy plane from San Diego Bay; safety warning issued The search for the missing man began Friday afternoon after San Diego lifeguards found an overturned kayak about 500 yards west of the Mission Bay entrance channel, which separates the neighborhoods of Mission Beach and Ocean Beach. According to authorities, the kayak appeared new without signs of use but was broken in half. An investigation later revealed that the kayak belonged to a man who left Mission Bay around 11:45 a.m. Friday. The last ping from the man's phone was detected around 1:48 p.m. that afternoon, south of the Mission Bay entrance, authorities said. After considering environmental factors, the probability of survival and the absence of signs of the missing kayaker, the search was suspended in a mutual decision among local agency partners.
