Former Nebraska offensive lineman transfers to the Oklahoma State Cowboys for 2025 season
Former Nebraska football offensive lineman Grant Seagren signed with Oklahoma State on Thursday afternoon. This was reported by On3's Pete Nakos. Seagren joined Nebraska as a walk-on in 2023 after playing both the tight end and defensive line positions in high school. He played in seven games in 2024, playing both the left and right tackle positions, and was a contributor on special teams. Advertisement Following his entry into the portal, Seagren received interest from several schools, including the Wisconsin Badgers, who offered him last week. Now, he has the opportunity to go to an Oklahoma State team that is looking to rebound after a 3-9 season last year. At six feet six and 305 pounds, he has the measurables to be an impact player in Stillwater. He'll have the opportunity to start for the Cowboys, which would have been difficult at Nebraska this season. Now he'll start a new chapter in his college football career. Nebraska transfer portal departure coveted by Big Ten Teams
Nebraska transfer portal departure coveted by Big Ten Teams The Wisconsin Badgers offered Nebraska transfer offensive lineman Grant Seagren on Thursday. This was reported by multiple media outlets. Seagren joined Nebraska as a walk-on in 2023 after playing tight end and defensive line at the high school level. He redshirted his first year but played more in 2024. All told, he appeared in seven games, playing both the left and right tackle positions. Since entering the transfer portal, Seagren has received a lot of interest. He has received offers from Rutgers, Kentucky, and Washington State, in addition to Wisconsin. Wisconsin could be a fit for him, as they lost left tackle Kevin Haywood to an ACL injury during spring practice. It is certainly interesting that Seagren has been coveted by several teams ever since he departed from the Huskers. He measures six feet six inches and weighs 305 pounds, and he could be an asset to any team. His ability to play on both sides of the football could afford him unique opportunities. Wisconsin football offers Nebraska transfer offensive lineman
Wisconsin football offers Nebraska transfer offensive lineman After an amazing visit I am excited to have received an offer from the University of Wisconsin! — Grant Seagren (@seagren_grant) May 2, 2025 Wisconsin extended an offer to Nebraska transfer offensive lineman Grant Seagren on Thursday. Seagren entered the portal last month after two years with the Cornhuskers. Since entering, he's shared offers from Washington State, Rutgers, Kentucky, and now Wisconsin. The Oakland, Nebraska, native originally joined the Cornhuskers as a walk-on in the class of 2023. He redshirted as a true freshman before playing 36 total snaps over seven appearances this past season. The 6-foot-6 lineman was reportedly competing for a spot on Nebraska's two-deep during spring practice before entering the portal. Seagren was a tight end coming out of high school, listed at 6-foot-6, 260 pounds. He's up to 305 after moving to the offensive line, according to Nebraska Athletics. The now-former Cornhusker is in the portal with three years of eligibility remaining. Wisconsin recently landed a commitment from Central Michigan transfer offensive lineman Davis Heinzen. The move followed the team losing projected starting left tackle Kevin Heywood to a season-ending injury. Seagren's offer adds to the Badgers' recruiting efforts at the position. With several starting left tackle options already on the roster, the program is still working to add further depth at the position. Despite the transfer lineman not registering a transfer ranking on Wisconsin appears to have significant competition for his commitment. The program is the most recent addition to an offer sheet that is currently growing by the day. For more on Seagren's potential, here's what Nebraska coach Matt Rhule said last month, during his team's spring practice session: "Forget all the walk-on stuff, that's in your own head. He's a big-time player in my mind." Matt Rhule sees a starting-caliber offensive tackle in former Oakland-Craig Knight Grant Seagren. — nebpreps (@THEnebpreps) April 14, 2025 Contact/Follow @TheBadgersWire on X (formerly Twitter) and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Wisconsin Badgers news, notes and opinion
