Homeland Security reveals staggering increase in Secret Service agent applications
EXCLUSIVE — The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced a roughly 214% increase in applications to join the U.S. Secret Service compared to the first few months of last year. The number of submitted applications from Jan. 20 to May 1 of last year was approximately 7,000 compared to 22,000 applicants in 2025 under the Trump administration. "For four long years, the previous administration demoralized and denied resources to our brave men and women in law enforcement, including in the Secret Service," a DHS spokesperson told Fox News Digital. "Our country suffered the consequences of that disastrous approach. President Trump himself nearly lost his life because of it. Now, after reforming the Secret Service and providing it with the resources it needs to do its job, we are seeing an historic surge in applications. Americans naturally want to protect and serve. We simply have to let them." What Does It Take To Become A Secret Service Agent? Director Sean Curran Offers A Behind-the-scenes Look The Secret Service has a total of 8,210 employees and law enforcement officers, including 3,904 special agents, 1,560 in the uniformed division, 265 technical law enforcement personnel, and 2,481 administrative, professional, and technical staff. Read On The Fox News App "I think the reality is that the Secret Service is returning to the core mission and the standards that made it great and that inspires a lot of really good people to want to be part of it," former Secret Service agent Tim Miller told Fox News Digital. "I think now under the new director, they are trying to get back to having highly qualified people that are very mission focused." "I know when I got hired, I had been a U.S. Marine Corps officer and a police officer, it was a high standard to get hired. I think many now want to be one of the best of the best and the Secret Service is trying to get back to that gold standard." Sculpture Depicting Iconic Trump Assassination Attempt Photo Displayed In Oval Office The Secret Service was responsible for protecting former President Donald Trump through two assassination attempts during his 2024 campaign. The first was at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, and the second at Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sept. 15. The agency, founded in June 1865, was originally tasked with exposing counterfeit U.S. currency under the Treasury Department, but began overseeing presidential protection shortly after the assassination of William McKinley in 1901. Fbi Deputy Director Bongino: Illegal Alien Criminals And Child Predators Are Next In Ongoing Crackdown "The Secret Service has always been a top-tier protection organization until the last 10 or so years and I think returning to its mission and restoring the standards required to be an agent are making a huge difference and causing good men and women to want to join," Miller article source: Homeland Security reveals staggering increase in Secret Service agent applications

A bronze sculpture depicting the attempted assassination attempt on President Donald Trump in Butler, PA, last year was seen displayed in the Oval Office on Friday. The commanding piece of symbolic art, which appeared to be at least 12 inches tall, was seen next to Trump's Resolute Desk as he signed a series of executive orders in front of the press. Future Presidential Limousine Might Be An Armored Cadillac Escalade
Read the full story on Backfire News The United States Secret Service recently announced President Trump could soon be rolling around in an armored Cadillac Escalade to help protect him from potential threats. In a way, it could be far cooler than the presidential limousine lovingly called 'The Beast,' a sedan-like vehicle that was actually built on a commercial truck chassis to accommodate its 15,000 lbs.-plus curb news comes after Secret Service Director Sean Curran met with GM executives in Michigan to talk about innovating on armored SUVs for the president. In other words, as technologies continue to evolve, the design of the presidential limo needs to as well. For now, President Trump often, although not always, travels in an armored Chevy Suburban. GM has been making presidential limousines for the past several decades, a relationship set to continue. In fact, a report from Reuters says back in September GM was awarded a $14.8 million contract to develop the next-gen presidential limo. It's not been specified when that vehicle, which appears to be an Escalade, will go into service. We also don't know all the designs and technologies included in the Cadillac SUV, for obvious reasons. One would assume there are countermeasures for not only high-powered small arms fire but also drone attacks, among other measures which might be deployed to threaten the life of the head of the United States Executive Branch. In a post on Facebook, the United States Secret Service said the agency will 'continue to explore emerging technologies to ensure our armored vehicles provide the highest level of safety for our protectees.' Considering the evolution of warfare we're seeing roll out between Ukraine and Russia, combined with increasing technological threats from China, undoubtedly the concern is The Beast's old design leaves chinks in the armor which could be exploited. The Next Secret Service Presidential Limo Might Be Based on a Cadillac Escalade
The presidential limo known as the 'Beast' might be getting an upgrade. GM has made armored cars for American presidents for decades, and that relationship looks set to continue, according to Reuters, which says that Secret Service officials met GM officials last week to talk about new armored cars. The Secret Service confirmed as much in a post on social media on Friday. More from Robb Report A Michigan Man Is Accused of Stealing $1.5 Million in Cadillac Escalades Cadillac's Newest All-Electric Escalade Is One of the Longest Production Cars of All Time The New Lyriq-V Is One of the Fastest Cadillacs Ever 'As threats evolve, we continue to explore emerging technologies to ensure our armored vehicles provide the highest level of safety for our protectees,' the Secret Service said in a post. 'This week, Secret Service Director Sean Curran met with GM executives to discuss advancements that could benefit the next generation of armored SUVs.' The next generation of armored SUVs are being developed in a process that apparently started in September, when GM got a contract worth as much as $40.8 million to build the cars. Of interest in the newest social media post, according to Reuters, is that an attached photo shows a Cadillac Escalade, though now President Trump 'often travels in an armored Chevrolet Suburban.' No timeline was given for when a new 'Beast' will be delivered. 'Our engineering, protective operations, and technical security teams work for years to develop the state-of-the-art framework that is used to produce these highly advanced vehicles,' a Secret Service spokesperson told Reuters. Before Cadillacs, presidents rode in a series of Lincolns, including Cosmopolitans, Continentals, and Town Cars. Beginning in 1984, President Ronald Reagan rode in a Cadillac Fleetwood, as did President Bill Clinton. Since 2001, presidents George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Trump, and Joe Biden have all been driven in custom Cadillacs specially developed by GM. The current 'Beast' is said to produce its own environment inside, sealed from the world. It is also said to weigh 10 tons, have one-foot thick doors, and have extra blood on hand for the president. Some other rumored features, like oil slicks and smoke screens, seem more pulled from the world of spy movies. The Secret Service does not discuss specifics because it is secret, but the cars have come a long way from Franklin Delano Roosevelt's 'Sunshine Special.'
