These notebooks keep the secrets of MLB pitchers
If Mitchell Parker is going to turn this around — and it appears he is trending in that direction after Monday's start against the San Diego Padres — he needs his notebook.
For some MLB starters, the inside of the notebook is a sacred place that requires daily tending. For Parker, it's a little looser. On some random afternoon, he might jot down that he got to the park on time and leave it at that. He could add a note about the opposing lineup, something pitching coach Jim Hickey or pitching strategist Sean Doolittle sent his way. And like all pitchers, Parker has quirks within his reading and writing habits: The lefty only reads his notes back once — after his pregame bullpen session.
