Results are in: Panama City, Lynn Haven voters decide runoff races for city commissions
PANAMA CITY ― Two close-fought races were decided Tuesday in runoff elections stemming from the 2025 municipal elections in Bay County. According to unofficial results listed on the Bay County Supervisor of Elections website, Robbie Hughes beat Daniel Schultz for Ward 1 on the Panama City commission, and Judy Tinder beat Jeff Snyder for Seat 4 in Lynn Haven. Both races went down to the wire. Hughes had 849 votes, or about 51%, to Schultz's 810 votes, or almost 49%. Tinder secured 1,155 votes, or about 51%, while Snyder took 1,088 votes, or about 49%. The races required runoffs after no candidate won at least 50% plus one of the votes in the 2025 municipal election in Bay County on April 22. The Supervisor of Elections' website says 3,906 Bay County residents cast ballots in the runoff elections. This was made up of 2,570 Republicans, 865 Democrats, 405 voters not affiliated with either party and 67 voters categorized as "other." Of those voters, 1,891 voted early, 1,192 voted on runoff election day and 823 voted by mail. One provisional ballot also was cast. There were two local voting sites for the 2025 runoff elections: Panama City City Hall at 501 Harrison Ave. and the Lynn Haven Senior Center at 905 Pennsylvania Ave. On election day, 788 people voted at Panama City City Hall, and 1,104 people voted at the Lynn Haven Senior Center. Panama City's election day ballots were split between 517 Republicans, 162 Democrats, 93 voters not affiliated with either party and 16 voters categorized as "other." Lynn Haven's election day ballots were split between 824 Republicans, 170 Democrats, 93 voters note affiliated with either party and 17 voters categorized as "other." Original results: Who won? Judy Tinder wins Lynn Haven Commission Seat 4 runoff race
LYNN HAVEN, Fla. (WMBB) — During the April 22nd, 2025 Municipal Election, Seat 4 candidates Judy Tinder received 49.2% of the vote, Jeff Snyder received 27.7% of the votes, and Jamie Marler picked up 22.9% of the votes. Lynn Haven Commissioner Seat 4 race goes to run-off Tinder missed winning the seat outright by just 1% of the votes. But, since no one received at least 50% plus 1 vote, Tinder and Snyder went to a run-off on Tuesday, May 20th. Snyder is a part of the Lynn Haven planning board, and Tinder served as Seat 4 Commissioner before resigning to run for Mayor. Don't forget! Early voting for Bay County runoff elections ends May 16; Election Day is May 20
PANAMA CITY — The deadline is quickly approaching for residents to vote early in two local runoff elections. According to the Bay County Supervisor of Elections Office website, early voting in Bay County ends May 16 for two runoff elections associated with the 2025 municipal elections on April 22. They are for Ward 1 commissioner of Panama City and Seat 4 commissioner of Lynn Haven. Since no candidate in either race received at least 50% plus one of the votes, runoff elections are required. Robbie Hughes and Daniel Schultz are competing in the runoff race for Ward 1 commissioner of Panama City. In the April 22 elections, Hughes secured 1,130 votes, or almost 46%, while Schultz secured 689 votes, or about 28%. Judy Tinder and Jeff Snyder are competing in the runoff race for Seat 4 commissioner of Lynn Haven. In the April 22 election, Tinder secured 1,413 votes, or about 49%, while Snyder secured 796 votes, or almost 28%. As of about 11:30 a.m. May 15, the Bay County Supervisor of Elections Office' website noted that 1,735 people already had participated in early voting for the runoff races. Of those, 1,230 voted early in person, and 504 voted early by mail. The early votes by that point were cast by 1,156 Republicans, 375 Democrats, 173 voters not affiliated with a party and 31 voters categorized as "other." Two early voting sites will be open in Bay County from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through May 16. Lynn Haven Neighbors host runoff candidates forum
LYNN HAVEN (WMBB) — The Lynn Haven Neighbors group is holding an event that could help decide the outcome of the 2025 Lynn Haven Seat 4 Commissioner's race. During the April 22nd 2025 Municipal Election, Seat 4 candidates Judy Tinder received 49.2% of the vote, Jeff Snyder received 27.7% of the votes, and Jamie Marler picked up 22.9% of votes. Lynn Haven Commissioner Seat 4 race goes to run-off Tinder needed just 1% more votes to secure the seat. But, since no one received at least 50% plus 1-vote, Tinder and Snyder are headed to a run-off on May 20th. PANAMA CITY — Nina Ward, Bay County supervisor of elections, says residents should not miss their chance to cast ballots on Super Tuesday, which is April 22. Local voters are slated to take to the polls on April 22 for the 2025 municipal elections in Bay County. According to the Bay County Supervisor of Elections Office website, there are 135,678 registered votes in Bay County, but only 40,030 voters are eligible to cast ballots on Tuesday. This is because they live within the limits of municipalities with offices up for election. They are Panama City, Lynn Haven, Parker and Mexico Beach. "Typically, we see a much lower turnout in our city elections, but they are just as important, possible more important, than our national elections," Ward said. "These issues and the people we are voting for in these city elections are the closest to home, and they affect our daily lives. There's plenty to vote on." As of about 1 p.m. on April 18, 4,584 residents, or about 11% of the eligible voters, had cast ballots in the election. Of those, 1,384 voted by mail and 3,199 residents participated in early voting. Ward noted early voting in Bay County ends at 5 p.m. April 18, but residents have until 7 p.m. on Election Day to drop off mail-in ballots. Six voting sites will be open on Election Day. Unlike during early voting, those who wait until Tuesday to vote must do so at their designated voting sites. They are: Lynn Haven Senior Center − 905 Pennsylvania Ave. First Baptist Church of Mexico Beach − 823 15th St. Panama City City Hall (Ward 1) − 501 Harrison Ave. A.D. Incumbent Michael Rohan and Allan Branch are running for mayor. Robbie Hughes, Daniel Schultz and Edward Young are running for Ward 1 commissioner. Incumbent Josh Street and Demetrius Rease are running for Ward 4 commissioner. Offices up for election in Lynn Haven are Seat 3 commissioner and Seat 4 commissioner. Incumbent Jamie Warrick and Johnnie Beshearse are running for Seat 3 commissioner. Judy Tinder, Jeff Snyder and Jamie Marler are running for Seat 4 commissioner. Offices up for election in Parker are mayor, Seat 1 council member and Seat 3 council member. All three Parker races have unopposed candidates.
