Shimron Hetmyer just lived the dream of every cricket lover! With six runs needed of one ball, he tonked Kieron Pollard for a maximum in the 2025 MLC.
With six runs needed off the last ball, Seattle Orcas' Shimron Hetmyer lived every cricketing kid's dream by tonking the MI New York star Kieron Pollard for a maximum over deep fine leg in the 2025 edition of the Major League Cricket (MLC) at the Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas, on Saturday.
MI captain Nicholas Pooran had kept Pollard to defend nine runs off the last over. Hetmyer's partner, the number nine Jessy Singh, struggled to get off the strike until the third ball. Hetmyer could only manage two runs off the next two deliveries against his compatriot, requiring six off the final delivery.
Pollard, with his slow, short run-up, tried to surprise him with a length ball on the body, but it was misdirected further on the leg. Hetmyer crouched and managed to get under it for a pull over the keeper, and it traveled the distance, kicking off celebrations that made him look like Superman for his teammates.

Hetmyer was almost a one-man army for the Orcas. Chasing a mammoth 238 (set up by MI captain Nicholas Pooran's century and Tajinder Dhillon's 95), the Orcas were 107/4 in the eighth over when Hetmyer came out.
Heinrich Klaasen got out from the other end soon after, and as the tail began, Hetmyer hogged the strike and continued to keep the required run-rate in check. Dealing with a niggle, he exploded in the 16th and 19th overs, finding 18 and 23 runs, respectively for the final-over robbery.
'This one is one of the best, because our backs were against the wall and I'm still grimacing over the last game where we couldn't cross the line," Hetmyer said, as quoted by Cricbuzz. 'Today is one of those days, where I went with a clear mind and wanted to take the game as deep as possible. That (injury) actually gave me a little bit of help, because I didn't want to run much," he added.
