Seaver King's confidence dropped. Now he's focused on ‘little steps' forward.
Seaver King knew something wasn't quite right.
King, a first-round pick of the Washington Nationals in 2024, wanted to hit the ground running in his first full season of professional baseball. But when he arrived in spring training, something just felt off.
Turns out his self-diagnosis was correct. When he opened the season 3 for 38 in high Class A Wilmington, doubt crept in — doubt about whether he belonged there, about some offseason adjustments he made, about whether he should have made them to begin with. But the doubt waned with each swing. King started to piece things together, leading to his promotion to Class AA Harrisburg in early June.
