#2 Chenango Valley Boy's Lacrosse tops #3 Whitney Point to head to Final

Chenango Forks' Maggie Warpus named Class B Girl's Basketball Player of the Year
CHENANGO FORKS, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – Section IV produces plenty of exceptional athletes each season, and one of them is making her mark as a junior on the basketball court for Chenango Forks on how her season went in New York State. Maggie Warpus got it done this season for the Blue Devils. In doing so, she earned herself the Class B Player of the Year, named by the New York State Sportswriters Association. Throughout her run this season to a state final four appearance with the team, she won the STAC title before taking the Section IV chip at Visions Veterans Memorial Arena. She's racked up plenty of offers from D-I programs, from as close as Binghamton to as far as Oregon State. M-E's L'Amoreaux holds Basketball Camp for Youth Athletes
JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – One time Maine-Endwell Spartan, now Fairfield Stag Kaety L'Amoreaux, once made her mark on basketball in Section IV, and is now doing it in the MAAC. Following her NCAA Tournament run, she's back in the Southern Tier, helping the youth train to be where she is now. Friday, she held the KL4MMY Youth Girls Basketball Camp at the Bulldogs Sports Complex in Johnson City. Girls from 1st to 8th grade were able to come out and improve their skills on the court, and look to further their push to the next level with one of the best from the area to do it. The event was held from 9-12, and while L'Amoreaux is home, she was still able to do what she loves, while also helping out others. 'I'm very passionate about coaching and giving back to the community, and it's just such a fun thing to do for me,' said L'Amoreaux. The 2022 BCANY Class A Player of the Year and 4 4-time All-Conference and All-Section selection has high praise for camps like this. The 1,000 point scorer in high school says she used to attend camps just like this one, and it's these types of events that helped her get to where she is now, and will help young athletes coming up make the jump to the next level. 'These camps are where I sparked my love for basketball, and I mean, I saw that in my growth as a player,' she said. 'I always wanted another camp to do more drills. So it was kind of where my passion for it started. This past season the Stags went 19-1 in the MAAC, winning the conference tournament and 28-5 overall, falling to Kansas State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Johnson City's Smith heading from Binghamton to Bucknell
JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – One Johnson City standout now at the collegiate level has decided to make a move away from her hometown college in the transfer portal. Marisa Smith has decided to take her talents away from Binghamton University and head to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania to play for the Bucknell Bison. The 2023-24 Section IV Class A Player of the Year did not appear in her freshman season with the Bearcats. She averaged a double-double in her junior and senior seasons of high school and also won a sectional title. Hornell's Dyring is Player of the Week
After leading Hornell girl's basketball in its path to its first ever state title game, Jordyn Dyring is our Player of the Week. In the Class B state semifinals, Dyring scored 16 points to help lift Hornell to a six-point win over Chenango Forks of Section IV. In the state championship game, she put up another 16-point performance to pace the Red Raiders and close out an impressive junior season.
