Sayyid Shihab chairs social protection committee meeting
MUSCAT: The ministerial committee entrusted with the Social Protection Scheme held a meeting on Monday under the auspices of HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs and Chairman of the Social Protection Committee. The meeting was attended by ministers who are members of the committee. Several topics on its agenda were discussed, and appropriate decisions were made accordingly. The meeting also reviewed key indicators, including the number of beneficiaries of social protection benefits and the status of insured persons. In addition, the annual plans of two related funds—the Social Protection Fund and the military and Security Services Retirement Fund—were discussed. One of the primary objectives of the Social Protection Committee is to evaluate and monitor the performance of the Social Protection Scheme. The overall aim is to ensure the implementation of fair, functional, and sustainable insurance coverage for all segments of society while achieving the objectives set for the scheme. — ONA
