Gan guns down two national records
SUBANG: Gan Chen Jie shot down two national records in the Tun Tan Siew Sin Trophy at the National Subang Shooting Range today.
The Negri Sembilan shooter amassed 627.3 points in the qualifying rounds of the women's 10m air rifle to break the previous national mark of 627 set by Shahera Rahim Raja of the armed forces in 2019.
Chen Jie's effort of 627.3 erased her national junior record of 626.9 set in the Selangor Championships in April.
She went on to win gold in the final by accumulating 246.5 points while Nor Alya Aqila Mahathir of Perak (245.7) and Nur Ain Natasya Anderson of Sabah (224.8) took the silver and bronze, respectively.
Chen Jie said: "I am honoured to have broken both the junior and senior national records today. It feels incredible to see my hard work pay off.
"I hope I can stay on the right track and maintain this momentum to the Sea (Southeast Asia) Games (in Thailand in December)," added Chen Jie, who competed in the World Cup in Germany recently.
