HAVEN's Denim Drop Is Rooted in Heritage and History
Craftsmanship is at the core of all ofHAVEN's deliveries; however, it particularly shines through in the Vancouver-based outerwear outfitter's latest drop of denim goods.
Imbued with the heritage and history of Japan's denim industry – crafted on-site in the heart of the Japanese denim industry, Kojima in Okayama – HAVEN's collection of Washed Suvin Cotton Denim is a homage to the region's century of textile history and artisanal approach.
Delivering a washed version of Suvin Cotton Selvedge Denim, HAVEN's spin on Selvedge is softer to the touch and takes a breathable and comfortable fit.
Each piece starts at the hand-sanding phase, which lays the much-needed groundwork for the denim's final texture and tone; artisans abrade the fabric at its front whiskers and behind the knees, resulting in a three-dimensional 'hachinosu' or beehive effect.
Then, garments go through the scraping process – where an electric planer gently shaves away at the fabric's surface for a broken-in finish – followed by an enzyme wash to soften and subtly fade the silhouette once more.
Once the garment is dry, final hand-finished details are added to finish it off, with a refining light bleach treatment to close out the intensive process. Take a closer look at the making of the collection in the lookbook above.
