EHCA residents bust a move at adult prom
Residents of Erie Homes for Children and Adults (EHCA) left it all on the dance floor at their spring adult prom.
The prom was hosted by Seneca High School's National Honor Society (NHS).
Happy birthday, Erie! Friday marks 230 years since city's founding
'As a member of National Honor Society we figured it would be fun to do something a little bit out of the box, and Olivia mentioned that her mom works here and she knows the residents well, and we just loved the idea of incoportating them into a prom and wanting to have a fun time,' said Abby Propst, sophomore at Seneca High School.
The night included a live DJ and a variety of snacks provided by Pepsi, Perkins and NHS students.
The theme of the prom was 'April Showers Bring May Flowers,' and Propst said planning took place every day to make the night special for the guests.
'We would host craft days every day after school, pretty much mostly every Friday, and that's how we got all these amazing crafts to get done and the balloon arches and pretty much everything to tie it all together,' said Propst.

Director of the MOVE program for EHCA, Debra Niland, shared how heartwarming it was to see the residents in full bloom in their best outfits.
'This is an opportunity for them to let loose, have fun, get dressed up, and they did promposals for each other, they brought each other corsages,' said Niland. 'I'm so thrilled for our residents, the individuals that come here to the MOVE program, because we try to provide these opportunities for them, and it does take a village, so we do appreciate the community stepping up and offering to do things for us as well.'
'It is just such an honor to even, dancing with them now, bringing it all together and just realizing the hard work that went into it that, they're appreciating it, and it's just a good accomplishment for NHS to incorporate them,' said Propst.
