10 arrested after brutal beating of 17-year-old in Paroi

SEREMBAN: Police have arrested 10 men suspected of being involved in the brutal assault of a 17-year-old student in Paroi yesterday morning. District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Hatta Che Din said investigations were ongoing into the incident, which is believed to have occurred at around 1am near a food stall and futsal court in Kampung Sentosa Jaya. "A report was lodged by the victim's father. The teenager was allegedly attacked by a group of men," he said in a statement today. The victim sustained bruising to his left eye and complained of pain throughout his body. It was later revealed he also suffered a fractured cheekbone and nose, lacerations to the head, bleeding in the eyes, and other bodily injuries. Initial investigations suggest the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding, with the main suspect reportedly believing the victim had harmed his younger brother. Hatta said police viewed all acts of violence seriously and were committed to upholding justice. "We urge the public not to engage in speculation, and we call on any witnesses to come forward to assist with the investigation." Following the report, police arrested 10 suspects aged between 17 and 31, who have been brought to the Seremban District Police Headquarters for questioning. The case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting. Earlier, it was reported that the victim, a Form Five student, was attacked in what is believed to have been a case of mistaken identity.
